This one is a bit of a personal one.

My mum is from Iran. Her family left Tehran in 1979, during the Islamic Revolution.

Reading this beautiful article from Chiara @cyclo.patici made me think how lucky my mum was to escape a system in which women and men are not afforded the same freedoms.

Thank you for sharing your story with us, Chiara. I am very hopeful that things will get better for the women you met in Afghanistan. It will take time, but I believe they will.

One of the most beautiful things about bikepacking is discovering how kind strangers can be.

A bottle of water offered from a car window.
A warm meal when you least expect it.
A small gesture that completely changes your day.

These are three real stories shared by @sveniny, @2locosonwheels and @carlo_pizzuti while travelling by bike.

When you spend enough time on the road, you realise that kindness is everywhere. Sometimes it comes from people who don’t speak your language, don’t know your story, and still choose to help.

A perfect day #3 : How to find a decent place to crash for the night.

That’s been a big question some of you asked me. Where do I sleep in Japan ?
Well, answer, wherever I can. But it’s been fairly easy.
Although to stick to the rules and make sure I got the best spot and not to miss a legendary one, I always check a couple of apps. Turns out @rollingaround.app is becoming big, and that was my main source of infos in Japan, and not only for cycling.

Anyways. You can check my spots on the app, this one included. The view could have been great, except that there is a big volcano right in front of you. Too bad.

The kindness of strangers - part 2 ❤️

A month ago, I shared three stories of kindness experienced by the RA community. Turns out, there are plenty more.

- A warm bed when you need it most,
- A meal shared with someone you had never met before,
- Someone helping you get going...

Small gestures from complete strangers that can completely change a day on the road, or even your life.

These are eight real stories shared by @bikefridaydiaries, @freedomofmovement_tour, @ericzad, @2TyredTraveller, @everywhere_emine, @naomi_macek, @sveniny and @nomadicmario while travelling by bike.

The longer you travel, the more you realise just how much kindness there is out there, often from people who don’t know you, don’t speak your language, and have absolutely nothing to gain from helping you.

No signal? No problem. 🚲

Rolling Around now works offline!

You can finally download your maps and routes before setting off and keep finding (and adding) waypoints even when mobile coverage disappears.

This feature is part of Rolling Around Premium, which I introduced as a way for you to support the project while unlocking additional features.

On top of offline access, Premium also allows you to:

• Overlay your own GPX files on the waypoint map
• Display additional OpenStreetMap data
• Filter waypoints by the last time they were added or verified
