Analia Saban’s technique of weaving yellow acrylic paint with linen thread has caught the eye of many visitors who pause to look closely at this work from the Rollins Museum of Art Collection.

Membership & Guest Relations Coordinator Dina Mack selected Saban’s 🟨 Woven Angle Gradient as Weft, Cadmium Yellow Medium for “I remember when…” Reflections from The RMA Staff, drawn in by what she describes as a “weaving of a warm golden glow.”

You’ve likely interacted with Dina during your visits to the Museum, where she cultivates relationships while keeping the front of house and Museum Shop running smoothly.

Saban’s Woven Angle Gradient as Weft series comprises six artworks focused on primary or secondary color gradients, exploring the relationship between the analog and the digital. Inspired by image-editing software, the compositions suggest the stilled hands of a stopped clock, inviting viewers to pause and reflect on notions of time and duration.

✨ This is a MUST-SEE in person. Come take a closer look Tuesday–Sunday with FREE admission!

Have you experienced our new exhibition 🏙️ Visions of the City?

Explore Alfredo Jaar’s ✨ A Logo for America, on view in the exhibition, which examines how the word “America” is often used to refer only to the United States, while “America” encompasses an entire continent, from Chile to Canada. 🌎

In a recent feature from @hyperallergic , Jaar reflects on his experiences as a Chilean artist who moved to the United States, and why the work has continued to take on new meaning nearly 40 years later.

“In ’86, they invited me to do a piece in Times Square, and I thought, ‘This is my chance to do a public project about this,’” shares Jaar. ”I did it purely on semiotic terms. I was not thinking about the larger political issues; I was just trying to change the language: This is not America. America is a continent. But then, the work picked up and had a life of its own and I completely lost control over it.”

Read the full article at the 🔗 in our bio and view this work from The Museum’s collection in 🏙️ Visions of the City at The Rollins Museum of Art.
