This one is personal 🎬 The Lost Boys of Carbis Bay is now streaming online and if you’ve been following me for a while you might know how much this film means to me. I’m the executive producer on this documentary, and it started as a story about a group of men in Cornwall who go underground into abandoned tin mines together. On the surface - literally - it’s an adventure film. Beautiful Cornwall coastline, dark tunnels, headtorches, the kind of landscapes that make your chest ache ecause there’s something But what it’s really about is men talking to each other. Men showing up for each other in hard places. Men keeping each other alive. I lost my dad to mental health. So when this project came to me, about men in Cornwall finding community and connection underground in these extraordinary historic mine systems — I said yes immediately. It felt important in a way that’s hard to put into words. The film won at Kendal Mountain Festival and had a successful UK cinema run. Now it’s free to watch on Journeyman Pictures and I want as many people to see it as possible. If you’re a man who struggles to talk. If you love someone who does. If you’ve lost someone. Watch it. I’ve hosted five screenings of The Lost Boys of Carbis Bay 🍿 Five rooms full of people who came for a film and stayed for the conversation. That’s what a good Q&A does. It gives people permission to chat and dig into the themes of a film. I’ve hosted panels and done thousands of interviews over the years, and there’s nothing quite like standing in a room after a film that means something, opening the floor. kirstymalcolm In 2024 a filmmaker called @dansimpkins_ got in touch with @kirstymalcolm & @rollnine asking for support with a film he was making with @angoose_edits about some slightly mad but absolutely incredible explorers called the @carbisbaycrew 🔦 After watching the rushes and hearing their stories that delve into themes of community, adventure and men’s mental health with some incredible visuals to boot - we had to get involved. Since then the film has gone on to win Best Adventure and Exploration @kendalmountainfestival 🏆 it’s played in sold out cinemas not just across Cornwall, but across the UK and last night we were so proud to premiere it in Stockholm to a packed out screening room at the amazing @djupetsthlm event space 🍿 The film is so special because the people in it are truly ordinary but are also extraordinary. They’re a bunch of blokes who not only do something exciting and incredible, they are real men talking about life, fears, joys and the highs and the lows. We’re so pleased to be able to share this film as it is truly inspiring 🎥 here is a little event after movie by @sheppard.mariia who I met @foundhers_network by @rollnine
