When two of your favorite artists are touring and playing the same night at small bars and the times don't conflict, why not see both? First off on Saturday was LA punk icons @starcrawler played a power-packed set at a sold-out @whistlestopbar. Band was loud and raucous, and the crowd matched their energy. Next I drove 10 minutes to @sodabarsd for a more intimate experience with Australian indie master songwriter Alex Lahey performing a solo set to commemorate 10 years since the release of her debut EP "B-Grade University.* Not as loud, but an equally powerful performance, and the contrasting styles made for a fun and memorable evening.

Been wanting to see @diespitz for a few years (missed them last October to see Rilo Kiley) and finally got the chance Thursday at @hobsandiego. They did not disappoint, unleashing a raucous high-energy sonic barrage that had the crowd moshing, sweating and having a great time. See them if you get the chance!

Great hike Saturday morning at Torrey Pines with the San Diego Wharton Alumni group. As an unexpected treat, the visitor center was having an Earth Day event that included snakes and hawks. I also got a good shot of a Peregrine falcon nesting on the bluffs. Enjoy the weekend everyone!

First time seeing Chicago-based @ratboysband playing sold out show Wednesday at @sodabarsd. Fantastic night of music and great vibe from the crowd. Their new album "Singing to an Empty Chair" is amazing.

2nd time seeing blues-rock power duo @blackpistolfire on Saturday at @somasd, and they did not disappoint, bringing high-energy riffs and their unique stage presence. Swipe to no. 3 for Kevin's stage dive into the crowd!

Fun night of nostalgia on Saturday seeing @americaband at @humphreysshows. America's Greatest Hits was the CD I played in the car for Judy's and my first date way back when, and we even made our wedding band learn "Daisy Jane" to play for our first dance. Brought back lots of fun memories. ❤️

Super fun show Wednesday with ska-punk pioneers @lessthanjake, @fishbonesoldier and @suicidemachinesdetroit, plus a great new find in Philly-based ska band @catbiteband. Was able to get right up front and the energy was awesome! Plenty of crowd surfers (see #3) and at one point Suicide Machines singer Jason Navarro was leaning directly over me as he rallied the fans (see #8). What a great night!
