If I had to recommend one weekend plan, it would be this:Grab your friends, head to the mountains, stay in a tiny cabin, go hiking, and slow down for a couple of days.There’s nothing quite like waking up to fresh mountain air, brewing a cup of coffee, and simply enjoying the stillness. Miradouro Ponta do Furado, the easternmost edge of Madeira, where the São Lourenço peninsula drops into the Atlantic. Got here way before sunset, made coffee on top and just sat there watching the light slowly change over the volcanic cliffs. No people, just seagulls trying to steal my protein bar and waves crashing below.Easily my favorite viewpoint from the entire Madeira trip.The PR8 trail is about 7 km round trip. If do this hike for sunset and not sunrise, by late afternoon the crowds are gone and you get the whole São Lourenço peninsula to yourself.
