It looks catastrophic. In reality, it’s mostly a light show.

The Kopp–Etchells effect happens when airborne sand and dust strike a helicopter’s rotor blades at night, creating a spectacular halo of sparks. Despite the dramatic appearance, the damage is generally minor—mostly gradual abrasion and erosion along the blades’ leading edges. by @ron___h_

The ’80s really were a different time. Bigger ideas, stranger machines, and absolutely no fear of going over the top. The Boaterhome might be the perfect example — only seven ever built, combining a full-size van with a boat and trailer into one outrageous package. It’s weird, ambitious, completely unnecessary… and absolutely glorious. Peak ’80s. by @ron___h_

Everybody’s using AI to pretend they were living their best life in the ’80s. Half of y’all were six years old. 😂 Fuck that—give me 1998. Square-body Chevy, a case of Icehouse, gas under a buck, and absolutely no photographic evidence of the decisions we made. by @ron___h_

@pavatiwake is in a league of its own. The all-aluminum construction, insane attention to detail, fit and finish, innovation, and the way these boats are engineered from the hull up put them at the absolute pinnacle of the wake boat industry. They don’t follow the standard—they keep pushing it forward. by @ron___h_

Tight terrain. Live hoist. Lives hanging below. When there’s nowhere to land and no other way to reach them, precision is everything.

A nice hotel room hits different—it sets the tone for the whole trip. Good atmosphere, a comfortable bed, and a place you actually look forward to coming back to at the end of the night. 😏 by @ron___h_

Hotel check-in complete. Now begins the nightly battle to turn this room into a walk-in freezer. If I’m not sleeping under three blankets with icicles forming on the nightstand, the thermostat isn’t low enough. 🥶❄️

Anyone else need arctic conditions to get a good night’s sleep? by @ron___h_

NO LZ? NO PROBLEM. 🚁

When there’s nowhere to land, you make your own LZ.

UH-60 Black Hawk holding a hover with one wheel planted on the cliff while the SAR team steps off. The precision, coordination, and trust between the aircrew and rescue team here is unreal.

One tire. One mountainside. Mission continues.

👇 Be honest—if you’re on that SAR team, are you stepping out of that Black Hawk without hesitation?

When the landing craft becomes the helipad. 🚁🌊

AW139 coming in hot on Lake Powell. No runway, no problem—just 15,000 lbs of helicopter settling onto a moving deck like it’s another Tuesday. by @ron___h_
