Back after a long 18 month hiatus. Moved, renovated house and number 2 landed. So haven’t even looked at Astro yil@this week. Do people still use instagram?

A shot of Orion over stradbally mountain.

Swipe to see the sky mangled to death with editing to try and show the nebula. 😅😅😅

Sky shot with multiple 2 minute exposures and stacked and blended back with foreground which is a 4 image stack to reduce noise.

Back again already with another new image! Gotta love the holidays!

Here’s the Elephant Trunk Nebula, part of the IC 1396 emission region in Cepheus! It’s roughly 2,400 light years away and features vast clouds of gas and dust sculpted by the radiation from massive stars.

The image has over 30 hours exposure!

It’s a Christmas miracle! I actually got to produce a new image during the holidays! 😂😂😂

Here’s the Seahorse Nebula or Barnard 150 a dark nebula in Cepheus! It’s about 1200 light years away from earth and made of dense dark dust that blocks out the stars behind it so it appears as a deep dark patch on the sky. It was nice to pick up some faint background dust aswell.

The image was shot way back in June and is around 20 hours LRGB. I hadn’t edited til now because it had some bad gradients.

I managed a quick shot of Comet A3 Tsuchinshan from Lough Owel today!

I brought Mrs and our 2 year old to see it which made tricky astrophotography 10x trickier. Was very lucky to come away with camera intact and any photos of the comet. 😂

15, 10 second exposures stacked. Using my old Sony kit lense at 61mm and f5.6. Sony A7 camera, iso 1000.

You do not need fancy gear to shoot this comet.

Easily visible to the naked eye once it was getting darker. taken in Lough Owel by @ronanhunt88
