🍔 Fat Ronnie’s Burger Bar @fatronnies has a family story that began long before its new West Village location.

In 1972, Ronnie Faust’s grandmother Maxine opened her namesake burger joint in Harlem. The family says Maxine was the country’s first Black female union butcher. Ronnie grew up around her restaurant and butcher shop, learning the craft from the age of six.

He carried that legacy forward when he opened Fat Ronnie’s on Martha’s Vineyard in 2013, bringing Maxine’s recipes into a build-your-own burger concept. After expanding to Miami Beach, Ronnie opened in New York City in 2026.

Ron Barba (@ronbarba1) and I stopped by to meet Ronnie and hear how his family’s Harlem roots still shape what he serves today. 🎥

🎥 More videos produced since 2020 than MrBeast and four other major YouTube creators combined.

Flavors of America has created 2,000 free videos telling the stories of restaurant owners, chefs and food entrepreneurs. That exceeds the approximate combined main-channel uploads of MrBeast, Jack’s Dining Room, Nick DiGiovanni, Ryan Trahan and Casey Neistat over the same period.

Each video is filmed, edited and shared at no cost to the business. The spotlight belongs to the people whose stories we tell. ❤️

Comparison uses approximate public main-channel upload counts since January 2020, including Shorts.
