My second entry for @monthofmasters Myth and Fantasy week is the 1908 painting Midsummer Eve by Edward Robert Hughes. I’ve always loved this piece, and every time I’d encounter it, I would find myself entranced in its magic! I chose to paint this one more loosely and not pay attention to every little detail as I usually do. Also, painting people is always a challenge for me and therefore grateful for another chance to do it. Here’s my acrylic painting on 8x8inch canvas panel of a magical scene! 💚🧚✨

Thank you, @monthofmasters for the opportunity to paint a scene from one of my favorite fantasy films!!! I was quite nervous while painting this one but very thrilled with the result!!! Here is my acrylic painting on a 7x14in panel for #MonthOfMasters26 myths and fantasy theme. For my reference I used a screenshot of the bridge scene from the movie. So excited about painting this!!! How do you think it turned out?

I loved reading the nature-inspired fiction books of American writer Gene Stratton-Porter. She was also a naturalist and nature photographer who worked towards the preservation of the Limberlost Swamp and other wetlands in Indiana. After reading her nature book Moths of the Limberlost last month, I knew that this I had to paint something for this week’s @thetuesdaycollective moths theme. Although she was not a trained scientist, her firsthand experience doing research with moths compelled her to write a handbook without scientific jargon or dry statistics that any nature lover could read and understand.

Here are my gouache sketchbook pages of the Polyphemus, Cecropia and Luna moths.

So excited that @monthofmasters is back this month! July 8th-13th features Jessie Marion King, a Scottish illustrator who blended Art Nouveau with folklore and fantasy. I love her whimsical art and chose this particular piece because of the variety of flowers included. Also drew some flowers in my sketchbook before working on the painting itself. It is a very detailed piece (especially at this size) and took me several days to finish it. What do you think of the result?

Celebrating 250 years of freedom in one of the greatest countries in the world inspired me to paint a cross between two favorites: USA and tulips! 🤭 The stars are white tulips against a field of blue muscari and the stripes are rows of white and red tulips. Happy birthday, America, my home sweet home! 🌷🇺🇸

Goodbye, June, a month full of gardening, enjoying sunsets and the start of Summer! I somehow managed to also spend some time making art as well and finished 8 paintings including another Brontë country commission of a sunset scene in Haworth (West Yorkshire). This month I also celebrated my 50th birthday—so crazy how fast time has passed!!!! Absolutely amazed by how God has been there with me through the years and blessed me beyond measure; so grateful for it all! 🥰

Thank you @thenewbotanica and @in__the__fields for week 17 flowers! These are such gorgeous blooms, and I imagined how sweet their fragrance would be as I was painting! Missing these beautiful flowers in my own garden where the lilac bushes are now just green with foliage. Until next year, I have this beautiful reminder 💜🩷🤍
