POSTS STORIES REELS

This is a new-ish page and have some new followers here.

But let’s be clear- my ultimate goal is to see how much free Tri gear I can conjure up with this page. 🤌🏼

But also- wearing many hats in this season of life is crazy. Raising kids, running my own business as a professional photographer, being a present wife and keeping the house from burning down is wild in its own right. But add on this insane love for Triathlon and the big goals I can’t NOT set for myself, takes on a whole new level of crazy.

My life is not balanced, I forget appointments and days I’m supposed to do soccer pick up. Sometimes I make dinner, some nights it’s every man for himself. Long way of saying I’m not here to create a facade that I have things dialed. I most certainly do not.

In the end, I hope this page can provide a handful of seconds of humor to your day as we all try to grind through pursuing this sport we all turned into an unhinged hobby that endlessly bleeds our bank accounts.

Happy racing!

Training while raising kids women in triathlon by @ronning_to_race

Genuinely speaking- I was AMPED by my 3rd 🥉place podium finish. And there is an extra level of pride to it when I know what my day in and day out looks like trying to “balance” training, work, mom life, all of it. It’s crazy.

This sport is epic and it feels good to see the tangible growth each year I stick with this nonsense😆

What’s one of your proudest (or most ridiculous🙃) race moments?!

What another amazing week it was here in Kona for Ironman world champs.

But it always feels good when it comes to end and this sleepy town gets back to being…sleepy.

It’s so unique that this quiet spot ends up on the world stage once a year for a niche sport like Triathlon. I love this sport and getting to live in the very place that made Triathlon what it is today is special.

The other 360 days out of the year, Kona never ceases to be a beautiful community- the place where we’ve raised our family and planted roots.

The endurance sport community here is small but mighty. Training here year round can be utterly grueling without question. But I wouldn’t want to live or train anywhere other than this amazing place.

And to all the athletes who came to compete this year, a hui hou

Forever inspired by this race and the athletes who sacrifice so much to get here. And the likes of a @gustav_iden who compete with their whole heart. Grateful for yesterday.

However imperfect it might be, every year I get to witness how the Kona World Champs brings out the best in humanity

The way athletes care so deeply- putting everything on the line both physically and emotionally for a chance at a world title, not knowing they might come up short for all the world to see. This takes tremendous courage and vulnerability

The burdens and hardships athletes bring to the start line- the sacrifices it took to get there.

Watching a cop walk for miles alongside a retired police officer to help get him to the finish, adult children urging their father to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

The highlight for me- leaving my volunteer spot at Queen K aid station to walk alongside and struggling athlete for the last 6 miles of her race through the darkness and torrential rains.

On the surface it’s just another endurance race- but in every way this event changes you to your very core- giving you the confidence to go and in the world and ENDURE whatever comes your way.

Any highlights for those who got to see the race in person?!

I personally love that this otherwise sleepy town gets the opportunity to be on the World’s stage for a sport I love and for me, has been life changing.

The vibes this race week have felt like the pre Covid days. So much joy and positivity. Grateful to be a part of it.

Any other fun suggestions out there?

I swear- no matter how clean our kitchen is, these little turds find a way 🪳. Anyone else?! To clarify, this was an old bag that we didn’t realize was not in its sealed container 🥴. by @ronning_to_race

If someone told my 26-year-old self, suffering from postpartum depression, where I’d be at 40, I would have never believed it.

Or my 36-year-old self, bedridden and incapacitated from severe anxiety, would have never been convinced of where her story would take her.

Nor at 38, when I signed up to compete in the Kona Ironman, would I have thought that decision would be life-altering.

I can’t exactly explain why. I just know I’ve become less afraid of the unknown. I feel more safe in my body, trust it like I never have before. Completing an Ironman does something to your brain — “I did an Ironman, I can do anything,” is something I tell myself frequently when I enter challenging or uncomfortable situations.

I feel less ashamed and guilty for pursuing things that bring me joy outside my role as a mom, even when it comes at a sacrifice. I hope I inspire my kids — but I’m sure it might come with some resentment too 🫠

Maybe it’s a midlife crisis thing (probably), but I feel proud of how far I’ve come. As an athlete — yes, this year brought performances I’m proud of, because I work my ass off day in and day. I’d be lying if I said I don’t take notice when I’m standing on a podium that I’m almost always the only mom up there, let alone with 4 kids.
But far more significant: I’ve had too many days of my life stolen by fear, depression, and anxiety- I am so proud of the person I am today and that this former self is no longer my story.

Having so much fun learning, growing, failing, and sharing this newfound passion with my family. 🤍 And would never have seen the growth I have in this sport without so many phenomenal people helping me along the way. Gratitude galore. # #triathlonmom #triathlonlife #trihard #ironmanlife by @ronning_to_race

Training for my first Ironman while raising four humans and running a business stretched me in ways I didn’t expect.

But I also grew in ways I couldn’t have imagined either. Here’s a little bit of what I learned along the way
