Tengah sits at the edge of the forest town, and the home should feel the same way. Quiet, open to light, and a little greener than the city it left behind.

This walkthrough of Tengah Garden Residences is our read on that setting. Not a theme, and not a showflat dressed for the brochure. A place that can actually be lived in once the boxes are gone.

Pale timber, soft stone, linen, and a restrained line of carpentry. The living room stays low and calm so the pond light can do the work. The kitchen is kept tight and useful, warm enough in the wood that it does not read as a rental. Bedrooms are quieter still: built-in storage, a soft headboard wall, and almost nothing left on the surfaces.

Tengah Garden Residences already has the view and the breeze. The interior only has to stop competing with them.

Keys in hand, or still deciding? Walk the plan with us before the joinery is locked.

**How do you let light back into a 30-year-old home?**

A home doesn’t always need to be completely transformed to feel new. Sometimes, it’s about understanding the existing space—and finding better ways to bring in light, openness and connection.

For this older duplex, the design takes inspiration from Japanese minimalism, combining **clean white surfaces, warm timber tones and natural light** to create a calm, timeless home.

Instead of blocking the entrance with a solid shoe cabinet, a **suspended cabinet with an open centre and frosted glass partition** allows light to filter through while still maintaining privacy.

The patterned floor tiles add another subtle touch—bringing in a hint of nature and creating a visual transition from the outdoors into the home.

Good design isn’t always about adding more.

Sometimes, it’s about **removing what blocks the light.**

**Blackwoods Interior — We create designs that are simple, elegant, and functional.**

Some rooms don’t ask to be noticed.

They just hold you.
Warm timber underfoot. Soft light on linen. A space that feels finished without trying too hard — the kind of quiet that only comes when every line, every join, every material has been considered.
This is the home we keep designing towards: not louder, not trendier — just calmer. A place where you can walk in barefoot, sit down, and stay.
If you’re planning a renovation and you want that kind of stillness built in from day one, we’d love to walk through it with you.

Every completed home looks calm on the last day of shooting. The weeks before that are rarely so quiet.
This project asked for patience in the usual places: old floor levels that didn’t match the new joinery, a kitchen run that had to be re-planned after we opened the wall, and a lead time on the walnut that arrived later than anyone wanted. Humidity did what humidity does in Singapore — we waited, we acclimatised the timber, we didn’t rush the finish.
The harder part is always the invisible work. Protecting what stays. Coordinating trades so no one is standing on someone else’s wet floor. Keeping the client’s daily life intact while the house is mid-change. Those hours don’t make the reel, but they decide whether the final rooms feel effortless or forced.
Haruka walked the finished spaces today. Potato claimed the oak like he’d always lived there. That’s the part we show. The rest is why it looks this still. #BlackwoodsInterior #SingaporeHomes #HDBRenovation #Japandi #BehindTheBuild QuietLuxury taken in River Valley, Singapore by @ronquek

Finally got our 2nd Blackwood’s tee out
Front simple, back got the two doggie planning better spaces. One still working, one already living the dream.
Good design isn’t just about how it looks. It’s about how it makes you feel.
Simple spaces. Better living.
Option 2 — shorter, more personal
New merch drop from the studio.
The dogs 🐶 on the back pretty much sum up how we work — one studying the plans, one already claiming the space.
Better spaces, better lives. That’s the whole idea.
Option 3 — slightly warmer
Proud of this one.
We wanted something that feels like us — not too loud, a bit playful, still about home.
If you know us, you know the line: good design isn’t just about looks. It’s about how it makes you feel.
Would you wear this?
