A childhood hero of mine and many others like me passed away…..Willie Mays….perhaps the greatest all around player in pro baseball ever. I saw him play one time in person against the Padres. They beat the Padres and clinched pennant. After the game my friend, Gary Pluchino and I went to where the Giants players would leave the stadium and get on the bus to see if we could see some of the players…..really hoping to “The Say-Hey Kid.” Eventually he came out and as the crowd moved in, it forced home to walk toward me and pushed up against me with my back to the bus. The Legend himself was pushed up against….i could have kissed his neck. Then he moved on. It was my touch with greatness. As an avid baseball fan since as far as I could remember, to have Willy Mays himself pushed up against was like being by the god of baseball himself. The moment is as fresh in my memory banks as anything…..I touched greatness then so I morn today…. As all of baseball is. by @ronstorm7
