[TEAM] In this series we want to highlight the team that helps Roofscapes grow and support our mission of adapting cities to summer heatwaves!

👀 Today, let’s put the spotlight on Yujia Cheng, originally from Hangzhou where she studied architecture at CAUP Tongji University in Shanghai, Yujia joined the adventure for an internship at the beginning of 2026. At Roofscapes, apart from her commitment to built projects, Yujia’s interest in scenography led her to contribute to our ongoing exhibition at the @architekturmuseum of Germany in Frankfurt (more on this soon!).

Outside of work, Yujia also contributed this spring to the launch the “A structure of feeling”, an exhibition about emerging Chinese architects.

NEW FRENCH ARCHITECTURE
Interview with Roofscapes

Roofscapes @roofscapes.studio is an MIT-born architecture startup based between Paris and Zurich, dedicated to adapting existing buildings to climate change. The company develops scalable strategies for the “climate realignment” of building envelopes and rooftops in response to rising urban temperatures. Before expanding its reach to various types of architectural interventions, the practice started by developing a replicable system of green and accessible wooden over-roof structures. Tailored to protect Paris’ overheating zinc roofs from solar radiation, Roofscapes’ system welcomes biodiversity, retains storm water, and creates new shared outdoor spaces in cities.
