I’m running on very little sleep, but it was an office day, my make-up was on so I seized the day (and the lighting ✨) to get this off my chest.

I’m selective with what I talk about on social media, but I’ve been preaching to the choir for far too long about a serious issue in women’s football - MEAN GIRL CULTURE.

Now, if this triggers you and you think this is aimed at you, it probably is. For too long now, as women’s football grows, cliques have formed and people are gatekeeping information and connections. All this talk about women supporting women goes out of the window because of what? Fear somebody new to women’s football wants to make content too, or join you in raising awareness and building a platform for the sport? It’s ridiculous.

The irony that I feel less included in women’s football than I do men’s says it all. I am a woman and I don’t feel welcome in the women’s football social media space. We have all gone through too much SHIT for it to be like this. We’re fighting the same fight.

And on that note - not everything has to be a battle. Sometimes, it’s more productive to reach out, explain why something is wrong or offensive and educate. The likelihood is they had no idea it could land that badly. If they choose not to listen, then there’s your issue. Go to battle.

I say this, because last week’s event at Anfield further emphasised the power of the collective. The power of all coming together. Not competing, but sharing ideas and connecting with one another for the wider good.

I am not talking on behalf of any organisations I am affiliated with, these are solely my personal views and experiences. If this lands with the people who need to hear and they listen - great. If not, at least just appreciate the good lighting 🌞

What a wholesome, inspiring day at Anfield launching Beyond the Goalposts with the LFC Foundation! ❤️

The programme is the first of its kind at a football club, where racially marginalised women and girls will be supported on their journeys into football through mentoring, workshops, networking and so much more!

The statistics and data shared by Women in Sport only highlights the significant barriers these women and girls face on playing, attending or working in football.

The room was filled with people who want to help - inspiring women and amazing allies all coming together for this cause 💪🏽

I had the honour of sitting on an amazing panel with Ngunan Adamu, Phoebe Schecter, Natasha Dowie, Natalie Brown and Jess Clarke!

I took a lot from sitting up there alongside such powerful women!

Really proud to be part of this trailblazing programme.

Huge thank you to Dionne Johnson at the LFC Foundation for setting this up and asking me to be involved.

So excited to see where we are in a year’s time! 🙌🏽
