A town that deserves a spot on your Sicily itinerary 🕯️In southern Sicily, Modica reminded me a little of Matera. Houses and churches stacked across the hills, all in that soft honey-coloured stone that glows at sunset.What to do in Modica:🤍 Walk along Corso Umberto, the main street, and explore all the side alleys🍫 Visit Antica Dolceria Bonajuto, the oldest chocolate shop in town, famous for its grainy chocolate⛪️ Visit some of Modica’s stunning churches, such as Duomo di San Giorgio, Duomo di San Pietro Apostolo, or Chiesa di San Giovanni Evangelista🕰️ Explore Modica Alta: about a 20–25 minute uphill walk, or a quick taxi/tourist train ride. I present you, the charm of Noto ✨Noto means golden baroque buildings, picturesque little streets, and that Sicilian atmosphere that makes you fall in love instantly.Here’s how to make the most of your visit:🏡 Stay at Baglio Siciliamo Country House, a stunning countryside retreat just a short drive from Noto@bagliosiciliamo (slide 7-11)🍴 For dinner, book a table at Ristorante Manna Noto, located at the hotel. The setting alone is worth it, but the food makes it even better@ristorante_manna_noto (slide 1)🍝 Alternatively, head to Ristorante Le Muse for beautiful views over the surrounding landscape@ristorante_le_muse (slide 5 & 6)☀️ For lunch, stop by Nachè. The flavours are incredible and the staff are lovely@nache_cucina (slide 12)🏛️ Climb the bell tower of Chiesa di San Carlo al Corso for one of the best views over Noto’s rooftops. It’s one of those viewpoints that many people walk past without realising it’s there (including me hehe)🥾 And most importantly: take your time wandering around town. Welcome to Alicudi, the wildest and most remote of the Aeolian Islands ⛰A summer here forces you to slow down and simply take in the beauty. This tiny island is inhabited by less than 100 people (goats outnumber the humans here!)Alicudi is an old volcano spanning just 5 square kilometres (around 150 thousand years old), and it completely lacks roads or cars. Instead, the entire island is connected by steep stone staircases (see last slide for a small impression), where mules are used to carry up all luggage and heavier goods.Our accommodation was around 400 steps high, which definitely made us think twice before heading down for a quick errand (😉)Here are some of the moments that made this such a special, unforgettable stay:🌞 Slow mornings: wake up naturally when your body feels it’s time, without any traffic or noise, just the sound of the sea⛵️ A day on the water: rent a boat to see Alicudi’s dramatic cliffs from the sea. The water is incredibly quiet here (it feels like the water and sky are one) with very few boats anchored, and the stretch between Alicudi and Filicudi is the perfect spot for dolphin watching🍴 Dining in home restaurants: traditional restaurants don’t really exist here. Instead, locals open their properties so you can share a large table with strangers. The food and atmosphere are just incredible. I highly recommend Adrianna for a cosy, homey experience, and Club di Lea for something more similar to a restaurant🛏️ Staying at Casa Tre Archi: we stayed in this beautiful spot which was such a unique experience. Our host Elise was absolutely wonderful, and waking up to those breathtaking, uninterrupted sea views was magical✨ Stargazing: fall asleep under some of the darkest, clearest skies you will ever see, completely undisturbed by light pollution📍 Alicudi, Aeolian Islands, Italy by @rooshazeveld

A place where you are instantly made to feel at home, surrounded by the most incredible views.Here is how we made this one of our best stays ever:🌿 The perfect start: mornings begin with breakfast in the garden. Enjoy homemade delicacies by Signora Ravesi, fresh fruit, local products, and sea views to start the day🌴 The infinity pool: spending time here feels like you’re still dreaming. It’s a beautifully calm place to spend a few hours with those incredible, panoramic views across the sea⛵️ A day on the water: renting a boat (or planning a tour with Ravesi) to see Salina from the sea is an absolute must. The views of the volcanic cliffs, hidden coves, and clear blue water is definitely one of the highlights⛰️ The landscape: Salina is formed by two extinct volcanoes and is known for its sweet Malvasia wine, wild capers, and incredibly green landscapes. It has a beautiful, quiet charm that makes you want to stay forever🚲 Exploring by e-bike: riding through the island’s winding roads on an e-bike is the perfect way to discover the smaller villages and take in the scenery at your own pace🍷 Wine tasting: we tried the tasting experience at the hotel where we sampled all kinds of local volcanic wines from Salina, beautifully paired with delicious regional bites🏖️ Spiaggia dello Scario: check out this spot for a unique beach experience. You can rent some air mattresses and float around in the crystal-clear sea or just relax on the beach🏡 Exploring Malfa: take some time to wander through the quiet streets of Malfa itself, right outside the hotel. If you're looking for a place to slow down, this is it 🤍A stay at @hotelravesi is one you won’t forget. The hotel is located in Malfa, overlooking the sea and the Aeolian Islands, with Panarea and Stromboli on the horizon. The property itself is full of character, and just as beautiful as its surroundings.🌿 Mornings start with breakfast in the garden. Homemade delicacies by Signora Ravesi, fresh fruit, local products, and sea views to start the day🌊 You’ll often find yourself by the infinity pool. A calm place to spend a few hours, with views across the Aeolian Islands, where birds (aka local friends) occasionally stop by for a drink⛪️ One of the nicest parts of the property is the number of quiet corners to sit and take everything in. One of my favourites is the terrace overlooking both the sea and the church⛵️ Also spend time exploring Salina itself, I recommend both by boat and by e-bike. Discover one of Brittany’s prettiest towns 🇫🇷With its preserved medieval centre, timber-framed houses and cobbled lanes, it feels like time has stood still in Dinan.The town is known for its 13th-century ramparts (some of the best-preserved in Brittany), its picturesque port, and its charming streets. Rue du Petit Fort and Rue du Jerzual are arguably the prettiest in town.Here are some tips to make the best out of your visit:🏰 Walk along the ramparts for lovely views over the town and river🕰️ Wander early morning or after dark, Dinan is extra magical without the crowds🕯️ It’s worth staying overnight to soak up the evening atmosphere and explore at your own pace⛵️ Take a little wander around the harbour and spot some cute boats🥞 Crêpes and galettes are a must-try here, they’re part of Brittany’s traditional cuisine. A galette is savoury (usually made with buckwheat flour), while a crêpe is sweet (perfect with local salted butter caramel)📍Dinan also makes a brilliant base for discovering northern and eastern Brittany. Places like Saint-Suliac, Saint-Malo, Cancale, Bécherel, and even Mont Saint-Michel are all within reach by @rooshazeveld

Sarlat, the golden heart of the Dordogne 🌞Spring has arrived and I am already thinking about summer mornings in the south of France. I have been visiting Sarlat since I was very small, and its medieval streets and golden stone buildings never lose their charm.Beyond the town itself, it is an ideal base for exploring both the Dordogne and the Lot. You are only a short drive from historic castles, quiet river valleys, and prehistoric caves.If you are planning a trip, here are a few practical notes:🧺 The market runs every Wednesday and Saturday from 8:30 to 13:00. I recommend arriving by 8:00 to see the stalls set up with local cheeses and fresh pastries before the main crowds appear.For a meal or a glass of wine, these are my favourite spots:🍷 St. Victor is a cosy wine bar for a quiet drink🍽️ Gueule & Gosier serves regional classics with a modern twist🥗 La Chèvre & le Chou is a lovely option for vegetarian and vegan dishes🍴 L’Entrepôte offers regional food in a very atmospheric setting🤍 Lou Podel is the place to go for rustic charm and local flavoursSarlat is one of those places that stays with you long after you leave 🕯️📍 Sarlat-la-Canéda, France by @rooshazeveld
