Sometimes you don’t plan the career. You just find your way into it.

That’s what makes custom work so special.

Every person in the shop brings a different path, a different skill set, and a different perspective to the table.

We’re thankful for people like Mike who keep showing up, learning, building, and helping us take on the kind of work that makes Gillpatrick what it is.

Proud of the team. Proud of the work. by @rooted_wood

The CNC lets us do more for our clients.

More detail.

More custom work.

More consistency.

More possibilities when it comes to what we can build.

That’s why it’s such a big part of what we do. by @rooted_wood

This is the part most people never see.

Taking raw Monkey Pod, trimming it down, getting the size right, and turning it into a beautiful dining table.

A lot happens before the finished piece ever makes it into someone’s home. by @rooted_wood

This machine saves hours and hours of sanding.

The wide-belt sander handles the heavy work, keeps everything consistent, and helps the guys get to the finish faster without cutting corners.

Pretty cool seeing how much the right equipment changes the process. by @rooted_wood

A clean shop makes better work.

When everything has a place, the whole team moves better, works faster, and the shop is just a better place to be.

It’s not the flashy part of woodworking, but it matters. by @rooted_wood

There’s a lot of pride in building something with your hands.

It takes patience, skill, and a team that actually cares about the end result.

Pretty cool hearing what the work means from the people actually doing it every day. Thank you Arturo for your hard work and dedication. by @rooted_wood

Another 1st place. 🏆

This one took 1st Place in Kitchen: Face Frame, Less Than 40 Linear Feet at the 2026 Wood Diamond Awards.

A smaller footprint, but still a ton of detail and craftsmanship packed into the space.

Proud of the team and proud of the work.

The material took decades to grow.

The craftsmanship takes years to learn.

And the details take time to execute.

That’s what makes the finished product worth it. by @rooted_wood

Back to the basement pub. 🍷🪵

We already built the bar for this custom Irish pub, and now we’re adding wine racks to finish the space out.

That’s one of the best parts about custom work, the room keeps evolving, and we get to keep building on it. by @rooted_wood

Apparently the Cabinet Makers Association still thinks we’re pretty good at this.

Another Wood Diamond Award — this time taking 1st Place in Kitchen: Face Frame, 71+ Linear Feet. 🏆

From the cabinetry to the smallest details, a lot of work went into getting this one right.

Huge credit to our crew, and to the people who helped bring the full project together:

The awards are great, but the work behind them is what we’re most proud of. by @rooted_wood

Woodworking hot takes are back. 🪵

Walnut is overrated.

River tables need to die.

Expensive tools don’t make you better.

And fixing mistakes might be a bigger skill than avoiding them.

Agree or disagree? Let us know which one got you the most. by @rooted_wood

Most people would look at this and see a crack.

We see opportunity.

This Parota crosscut has a ton of natural character, and instead of throwing something like this away, we figure out how to turn it into something worth keeping.

That’s the fun part of working with real wood. by @rooted_wood
