Joy hasn’t been coming from thinking harder.

As an eldest daughter and mother, in a season layered with transition, grief, becoming, and possibility, my body has been asking for something different.

As we approach the Lunar New Year of the Fire Horse, I’ve felt a deep craving to soften my grip on intellect and control, and to move toward something more intuitive, watery, lunar, yin.

Less force.
More flow.

What I’m realizing is that all of these moments are converging into one invitation:
to surrender and let my body lead.

For much of my life, I’ve operated from survival wisdom: the part of me that learned to anticipate, manage, hold it together, and keep going.

That wisdom kept me alive.
But it can’t take me where I’m going next.

This chapter requires embodied wisdom. The kind that comes from feeling, sensation, pleasure, rhythm, and rest.

So I’ve been practicing getting very intimate with myself.
Getting quiet.
Asking: What is needed from me right now?
And not being afraid of the answer.

What’s become clear is this:
I don’t struggle with achieving.
I struggle with enjoying the journey.

And when I don’t embody the feeling of what I desire now, the things I want take longer to arrive, not as punishment, but as preparation.

Because I deserve to actually feel my life when it comes.

This is where K-pop entered: not as escapism, but as a somatic doorway.

Movement.
Sound.
Voice.
Story.
Joy.

It’s become one of the ways I practice being the energy I want to live now, not later.

This series is about how I’m building my embodiment toolkit during a season of change.

You don’t have to use K-pop.
But you do have a body.
And it already knows more than your mind.

—

✨ This is how I’m building my embodiment toolkit.

If you want support designing your own — before, during, and after major transitions — so you can move out of indecision, survival loops, and stalled dreams…

We’ll get to the root of what’s keeping you stuck, and help you embody the clarity and confidence you’re craving.

I realized I’ve talked a lot about ancestral healing but never shared my own journey. Today feels like the right moment. I hope you’ll read this. I have a feeling something here will resonate. ✨

—

For most of my life, I was the dependable one: the one who held everything together. 💪🏾
But beneath all that strength, I wasn’t always sure who I was underneath the doing.

I knew I was gifted (intuitive, creative, visionary), but I didn’t always feel confident naming or owning those gifts. Honestly, I didn’t even have the language for them.

Anyone else know that feeling of brain fog? ☁️👁️

I could see everyone else’s strengths clearly, yet struggled to see my own. I checked every “success” box and still felt lost and unfulfilled. 🌀

Therapy helped me understand the why, but ancestral healing helped me find the how:
– how to trust myself
– how to listen to my intuition
– how to stand in my gifts

Don’t get me wrong, therapy is so, so helpful. I still go, especially during major life transitions. But it didn’t take me to the root. 🌱

Ancestral healing reminded me that clarity isn’t something we chase. It’s something we return to.

I always felt my ancestors with me, even before I had language for it. But becoming trained as an ancestral healing coach is what finally lifted the fog. I learned to trust my gifts and activate them.

Here’s a glimpse into the future I’m calling in:
✨ Living my purpose as a life coach + ancestral healing guide
✨ Making 6 figures with flexibility and ease
✨ Being present for my kids
✨ Traveling freely (and going to any K-pop concert I desire)
✨ Splitting time between Maryland and my family’s home in Nigeria
✨ Building a communal neighborhood for my family + friends
✨ Living in flow with my fun, adventurous, child-like nature

It sounds luxurious because it is. 💛

And I didn’t believe it was possible until I healed my generational wound of lack (the belief that I wasn’t deserving, that I wasn’t enough) that I could finally see this vision clearly and take aligned action to make it real.

—

If something here resonated, I’d love to hear it.
Comment or message me with the part that spoke to you.💬 by @rootedinglow

This collage isn’t about predicting the future.
It’s about listening to what this season of my life is asking of me.

As a Black eldest daughter and a mother, standing in the Lunar New Year of the Horse, I can feel a deep shift underway. A call to loosen my grip on intellect, strategy, and survival… and to move toward something more intuitive, embodied, and honest.

This is me practicing surrender.
Letting my body, my lineage, and my timing lead.

So much of my life has been shaped by survival wisdom: doing what needed to be done, holding it together, thinking my way forward. But this next chapter is asking me to get quiet. To feel. To trust what emerges when I stop forcing clarity and let it arrive through sensation, rest, joy, and presence.

This astro collage became a mirror for that truth.
A way to sit with myself and ask: What am I really calling in now?
And not be afraid of the answer.

This wasn’t about hustling for outcomes.
It was about embodying the energy of the life I desire now, so when it arrives, I can actually feel it, enjoy it, and receive it fully.

Deep gratitude to @yoojiflows for holding such a powerful container in her Lunar New Year Astro-Collage Workshop 🧧🌺. This experience helped me root my intentions not just in dreams, but in my cosmic blueprint across home, money, creativity, career, rest, love, and purpose.

This is the quiet before the movement.
The grounding before the embodiment.

More soon 🌙✨ by @rootedinglow

Black History Month reminds me that so much of our history lives in roles that were never named, only lived.

For Black eldest daughters, responsibility often came early, quietly, and often without consent.

My work exists because I know what it’s like to carry wisdom, leadership, and weight....and still feel stuck during transitions.

Rooted In Glow is about honoring where you come from without letting survival be the only story you live.

DM me “ELDEST” if you’re navigating a transition
& feel stuck between who you’ve been for everyone else
& who you’re becoming for yourself. ✨

It’s a new year… and I’m still tired.
Not “I need a nap” tired.
More like my nervous system has been doing overtime tired.

Between snow days, another “surprise” week with kids home, and January doing what January does… I know I’m not the only one feeling off, foggy, or low-energy right now. 😴

If this season feels heavier than expected, I just want to say:
• you’re not behind
• you’re not doing it wrong
• nothing is broken

Sometimes the work isn’t to push. It’s to regroup, regather, and tell the truth about where we are without shame. 💞

So this is your Friday/End of the Month check-in.
• How are you really doing right now?
• What’s been weighing on your mind?
• What keeps pulling you out of sleep at 3am?

And if what you’re craving is support: clarity, grounding, someone to help you make sense of what you’re carrying in a non-shaming, steady, almost maternal way, I’m here.

No pressure. No urgency.
Just an open door when you’re ready.
You can book a free 1:1 alignment call with me - Link in my bio. 🌱

May you move into the weekend with less self-judgment and more care. ✨

Also: my son took this photo of me 🥰 i'm learning to be more present, and it's pretty fun. by @rootedinglow

January doesn’t need a reinvention.
It might be asking for a pause.

I spent my birthday this year in a solo hotel stay (something I’ve done for many years now) and it reminded me how powerful it is to intentionally create space to check in with yourself.

To ask:
✨ How am I really doing?
✨ What do I need?
✨ Where can I soften instead of push?

Last year held a lot: grief, loss, transition, and moments where it felt like one challenge after another. What supported me most wasn’t forcing clarity, but allowing myself to be held. By my people. By stillness. By honest reflection.

So for January only, I’m offering a limited number of free coaching sessions called Glow Pathway Sessions ✨

This is a gentle, intentional coaching space to slow down, reconnect with what you’re becoming, and clarify what this next season is asking of you, without the pressure of “new year, new me.”

If you’re in a season of becoming…
If you’re craving clarity without urgency…
If you’re ready to be supported instead of carrying it all alone…

This space is for you 🌊

Link in bio to reserve your session.
Let’s begin gently.

💞 If this feels like something a friend, sister, or fellow eldest daughter needs right now, share this post with them or repost it. We’re not meant to navigate seasons of becoming alone.

Hi lovely,

As we move closer to the new year, I want to name something I see (and feel) come up for so many people.

Not because there’s something wrong with you.
But because this part rarely gets named.

Often, it’s not that you don’t know what you want.
It’s that something inside you keeps interrupting clarity.

It can sound like:
 • “I just need a little more time.”
 • “Once things settle down, then I’ll focus.”
 • “I know what I want… I just can’t move yet.”
 • “I don’t trust myself to choose the right thing.”

These aren’t failures of discipline or motivation.
They’re protective parts.

Parts shaped by past experiences, family patterns, and generational survival strategies that once kept you safe, but now keep you stuck.

I see this most often in eldest daughters and women of color who are deeply capable, intuitive, and responsible. Individuals who’ve learned to override themselves for years.

Parts like:
 • the part that waits for permission
 • the part that fears being seen too clearly
 • the part that equates rest with risk
 • the part that believes clarity must come before action

Ancestral healing taught me that these parts aren’t enemies. They’re messengers.

They’re asking for:
✨ safety, not pressure
✨ acknowledgment, not bypassing
✨ resourcing, not forcing

This is why discernment matters so much. (My lesson for 2025)

Discernment helps you recognize which part is speaking and whether it’s aligned with who you are now….or who you had to be to survive.

When this work is done gently and intentionally, something shifts:
💫 the body relaxes
💫 intuition becomes clearer
💫 decisions feel less dramatic
💫 action feels possible again

This is the work I do, not by telling you what to do, but by helping you hear yourself more clearly.

If you’ve been feeling blocked, paused, or quietly restless as the year turns…you’re not behind. You may simply be at the point where listening differently is required.

More on that soon.

Already know you're ready to shift and interested in exploring more? Book your free 1:1 Alignment Call to get started today. Link in bio. Let's talk it out ✨ by @rootedinglow

As we move toward a new year, I keep hearing one word to describe 2025: chaotic.

And honestly? I agree.

But what I’ve heard far less about is the lesson underneath the chaos.

For me, the lesson of 2025 was discernment. ✨
Not just intuition, but the ability to tell what’s true versus what’s simply loud.
Knowing when to move…and when to pause.
Recognizing which part of me is responding and whether it’s rooted in survival or truth.

This year asked me to see beyond the surface of things:
in relationships (especially friendships), purpose, identity, and my spiritual life.

It asked me to listen more closely.
To trust my intuition more deeply.
To lean on ancestral wisdom instead of urgency.

Through ancestral healing, I didn’t just gain insight — I gained orientation.

I learned how my clarity actually works:
✍🏾 Writing (if I don’t write, I feel stifled)
🗣️ Speaking things out loud (even if it’s just to myself)
🌱 Intentional check-ins to ask: How resourced am I right now?

What surprised me most was realizing I don’t just have inner wisdom, I have ancestral counsel.

A steady internal and ancestral reference point I return to when doubt or urgency creeps in. A reminder of: You’ve done this before. You don’t need to panic. Just tune in.

As the new year approaches, many people are rushing to set goals or fix what didn’t work.

But what if the real work right now is creating safety around dreaming again?

Safety to vision without pressure.
To reconnect with your purpose.
To discern what truly deserves your energy next.

The new year isn’t just about movement; it’s about orientation.

Before goals, discernment.
Before action, self-trust.
Before expansion, safety in the body and lineage.

If this stirred something in you, trust that.
Clarity doesn’t need to be forced. It already lives within you.

✨ I’m opening space for new 1:1 clients in the new year for this work, supporting eldest daughters and women of color in strengthening discernment, intuition, and aligned decision-making without urgency or self-abandonment.

In 2021, I worked my way up to a promotion as a Senior Program Analyst that I was supposed to receive after maternity leave.

When I negotiated my salary (because someone new was making more in the same exact role), I was told not to be “too emotional” about it.

I took the promotion, but I had already made the shift in my mind to leave.
I knew I was worth more than that.

That same year, I finished my Master’s in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and had a job offer before I graduated.

In 2023, as a Senior Consultant looking for a new project, I was told to send my coach a list twice a week of people I would “annoy” to find an assignment… after months of networking, volunteering, attending meetings, and connecting with integrity.

It didn’t align with my values.
So I made a plan, and I left.

Later that year, I became a cofounder of the @eldestdaughterscollective, a community rooted in healing, leadership, and shared liberation.

In 2025, I was laid off from another consulting role.

By then, I had completed my Ancestral Healing Coaching program and had already been activating my entrepreneurial desires, not for months, but honestly for years.

Fast forward to today:

I’m betting on myself.
I’m trusting the push I’ve always felt: the one rooted in lineage, in ancestral traditions of accessing your gifts, offering your medicine, and operating through your unique calling.

Here’s the future I’m building:

✨ Living my purpose as a life coach + ancestral healing guide
✨ Making 6 figures with flexibility + ease
✨ Being present for my babies
✨ Traveling freely (and going to any K-pop concert I want)
✨ Splitting time between Maryland + Nigeria
✨ Building a communal neighborhood for my family + friends
✨ Living in flow with my fun, creative, child-like nature

I don’t wait for permission to be worthy. I already am. And I move accordingly.

Rooted in Glow isn’t just my business: It’s my reminder that integrity, alignment, and ancestral wisdom will always carry me further than anyone else’s predictions.

If my story resonates and you’re navigating a season of transition, identity shifts, or reclamation, I’d love to connect. 💞 by @rootedinglow
