Rooted Ranch Co didn’t start with a plan. It started with trying to find my footing.

In land.
In motherhood.
In a marriage learning how to grow alongside it all.

It started with building a life here together. Ranching as a family. Learning how to hold work, love, and responsibility at the same time.

There were babies growing, calves growing and flowers growing at once. Both asking everything of me. Both teaching me how little control I actually have.

The flowers came first. Planted in seasons when I was still learning how to show up.

Growing flowers taught me patience before I had words for it.
You do the work.
You wait.
You trust what’s happening beneath the surface. Deeply.
Rooted in your faith. Embodied in your knowing.

There were setbacks too.
Grief I didn’t expect.
Anxiety that moved in and out like weather.
Moments where I had to relearn my body, my mind, myself.

And still - life kept asking to be lived. Felt. Heard.

Animals to care for.
Children to raise.
A marriage to return to, again and again.

Hands in dirt.
Hands in water.
Hands doing the work even when I felt fragile.

The tallow didn’t come from a business idea. It came from need. From hands worn down by chores. From skin exposed to the seasons. From wanting something steady when so much felt tender.

So I made it.

Rooted Ranch Co is all of it together.
Flowers grown here.
Tallow crafted here.
Calves born here.
Babies raised here.
A marriage rooted here.
A family learning as we go.

Its ranch life lived side by side. Beauty and breakdown. Growth that isn’t always visible, but is always happening.

Rooted Ranch Co is an extension of me. My heart. My soul ✨

Nothing polished.
Nothing separate.
Just a life being lived 🤎
Rooted, season by season 🌸🤍

I can go on 🤎🌸

My favourite part about my flowers, and my animals, is how well it meshes together (most days 🤣). Morning chores? Sandwiched between garden strolls. Evening chores? Same deal. Sunsets? I’m absolutely looking at my cows AND my flowers.

For as long as I’m physically able, this will be my life. Nothing else I’d rather do, no where else I’d rather live. If I won the lottery? Turn away blind eye to all the extra animals and flowers you see 🤭

Flower funnies for the first day of October 🍂 I went outside in my crocs this morning (without socks, big regret), and quickly learned it was absolutely below zero with the wind 🥶

I think it’s safe to say growing season is over and I did not chop down my dahlia stalks too early 🌼 How we got here already? I’m not sure. It feels like we spent all summer waiting for summer and now it’s October 1st.

Happy October everyone - one of my most favourite months of the year 🤎🍂✨

…and saying goodbye 🥺

the weather still looks good, and i *could* keep them longer. however, by the time more bloom we will likely have another frost. so they are coming down today.

in the grand scheme of things, this allows me to cut stalks, dig out tubers, clean tubers, split and label tubers… all while the weather is nice. last fall my fingers froze rinsing and splitting tubers, so if i can avoid that, i will 🥶

i’m excited to see how the tubers performed this season, and get a rough idea of what i can have available for you next year!

the physical garden may be getting tucked in for hibernation soon, but the flowers and possibilities remain on my mind daily 🌸

It could be worse, right? There’s definitely a snowball effect when it comes to animals. You start with one variety, then you add another, and another, until you start adding different breeds within each variety and soon you’re just a zoo manager 🤷🏻‍♀️

Used my free will last fall, and despite the slobber, there’s no regrets - we love our saints so much 🥹🤎 Time for another pup?!

Peonies - like all flowers - are a food source (and a sweet little treat for ants) 🌸🍬

In my experience, some years there’s many ants, other years there’s less. They’ve never been bothersome, they mind their own business and I mind mine! They’re just not allowed to travel into the house inside the flowers (if you see me shaking flowers in the garden, this is why 😂)
