Maybe it’s time to give a little introduction about myself☺️ I am an American expat living in Maastricht with my Dutch husband who is an Acupuncturist, and our 2 children Ezra & Lula. I grew up in the south of the US, and my mother practiced Naturopathy so herbalism and alternative medicine have always been part of my life. For years I purchased natural skincare or made my own products, and after beginning to study herbalism and taking a small course in natural care products, I realized a real passion..to highlight the power of plants/botanicals in skincare. I began to officially study and became a certified Natural Skincare Formulator in 2021. The 1st formulation I made was Essential Face Oil and very quickly it became a success, so I continued to formulate new products to complete a full offering of personal skincare. At the beginning of 2023 the pro-aging line was formed✨ Over the past several months I’ve been working on a line of products specifically for acne..hopefully they will be launched in the near future. I am very grateful for the loyal Roots Botanica customers, and look forward to continuing to formulate and bring you new and exciting botanically based skincare products. xo Melissa by @roots.botanica
Looking back through Roots Botanica and how it all started.. This was the 1st post showing different products I was making and some of these are products I sell today! The past 5 years have been a huge learning curve filled with alot of joy as well as the struggles of creating, selling, and marketing my own brand. After some serious soul searching, I have come to the decision that it is time for RB to shift & change. As I go deeper into natural perfumery studies I realise this is where my heart is leading. Following what lights you up is so important, especially in our current world. I wish that for everyone💛 That is why all Roots Botanica products will be on final sale until everything is sold✨ Thank you so much for your support over these past 5 years, and especially those that have been here since the beginning. For anyone who wants to continue using RB, I will be offering a made to order service beyond the sale. Please contact me for more information. I hope you stick around to see where the Roots Botanica journey leads😊 Thank you, truly, from the bottom of my heart💛 Melissa by @roots.botanica

My very handy hubs built new shelves for the ever expanding perfume materials at Roots Botanica. I have so many inspiring ideas I hope to begin bringing to the market in 2026..natural perfumery being at the top of the list! But also perfume oils, body sprays, dry body oils, room sprays, naturally scented beeswax candles and handmade incense. And as always with Roots Botanica, everything 100% natural and sustainably sourced. by @roots.botanica

Roots Botanica’s lip balm is not just any old lip balm. It was thoughtfully formulated to protect and heal your lips(also cuticles!), while also helping delicate skin remain soft and supple. There are no harmful or addictive ingredients..only pure plant oils and butters that each serve a true purpose🤍 Key Ingredients: Shea butter-very hydrating and nourishing Castor oil-humectant which helps retain moisture while also providing a protective layer from the elements Raspberry seed oil-very high in phytosterols which help to repair skin damaged by environmental factors Sweet Orange essential oil- anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties that help to keep the lips smooth and supple. Benzoin essential oil-helps to speed wound healing and prevents moisture loss. by @roots.botanica
We’re slowly moving into Fall and the perfect time for a little extra nourishing! ‘A Walk in the Forest’ hand & body cream is indeed super nourishing yet not too heavy. It’s the perfect balance between a body butter/lotion & is packed full of food for your skin. Shea butter-ultra hydrating and moisturizing Raspberry seed oil-creates a protective layer on the skin + high in phytosterols which help to repair damaged skin Macadamia nut oil-very soothing & nourishing with squalane Oat kernel oil-absorbs easily into the skin & includes ceramides which help to lock in moisture & protect the outer barrier Mallow plant extract-creates a protective barrier, very soothing for irritated and inflamed skin As soon as you open the tin you get a wonderful aroma of the forest from essential oils of black spruce, cedarwood virginia, orange, bergamot, and a touch of clove🌲 And just like in all Roots Botanica products, this lovely cream follows IFRA recommendations for essential oil safety. by @roots.botanica
Purifying Cream Cleanser was one of the first formulations I created..in fact a version of this cleanser was my final exam before becoming a certified skincare formulator. I wanted to create a cleanser that not only cleansed well, but that was gentle on the skin, could be used to remove light makeup, and provided just a bit of foaming action. Also important..to be able to remove without a cloth. As a lifelong splash-rinse girl I find it important to forgo using a cloth daily..which leads to less wash and saving energy. Added bonus it smells wonderful with essential oils of geranium and frankincense! To use simply take a few pumps and massage into face, then add a bit of water and continue to massage all over face..splash-rinse with water and you’re all done🙌🏼 And of course follow up with other Roots Botanica products such as Neroli Hydrating Mist, Nourishing Eye Gel, Essential Face Oil, Cleo Radiant Elixir..and more! 📸 @studiosijs by @roots.botanica
Textures and colors of nature.. Roots Botanica skincare is always 100% natural and lovingly made with organic botanical extracts, carrier oils, and essential oils. After a wonderful vacation in the most incredible nature of Cornwall, England, orders are now being prepared for shipping and/or local pick-up🌼 by @roots.botanica
Citrus Face Polish- give your skin a deeper exfoliation and nice glow for summer days☀️ This face polish works in two ways with a physical exfoliation from the micro bamboo beads and a gentle chemical exfoliation from alpha hydroxy fruit acids. Also includes botanical extracts such as green tea which helps to regenerate damaged skin and papaya glycerol which helps to soothe skin irritations. Smells delicious with lemon, lime, and orange essential oils! Use 1x/week-more than that can be disruptive to your skins microbiome. Although RB follows IFRA guidelines for safe dermal limits of essential oils, you should always do a skin patch test if you think you may have sensitivities. by @roots.botanica
