🗣️ Conversations about the Indian Sports Ecosystem... beyond the scoreboard
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Welcome to Part 2 of the Self MBA/Self Sports MBA. I share my story with you today, why it felt right to take such a step.

This is just a tiny part of the vast material I'm trying to immortalize from my Self MBA, something I worked too hard on to just leave in the notes and spreadsheets.

I did end up doing a formal Sports Management course during my second year of this course simultaneously. Once I was sure this is the career path I wanted.

Because to the world your education and knowledge mean nothing if they don't come with a certificate lol. And no, it did not mean the Self-MBA was futile; I was so well prepared, it made the formal course feel like a cakewalk.

Indian kids need heroes they can see. And idols their parents can trust. 🇮🇳✨

A nation doesn’t rise to the top of world sport on raw talent, but participation. And in India, participation when parents wonder if letting their child pursue sports is a risk too great to take.

When athletes step up, share their grind, celebrate their medals, and show the world what is possible, they aren't just making a post. They are becoming a beacon. They are giving a young kid the audacity to dream, and giving an Indian parent the belief to finally say: "Go ahead, play."

As an athlete, your journey might just be the reason the next generation believes they belong on the world stage. 🏅🔥

Welcome to Episode 1 of What Makes Sports Innovation So Special.

Before it was an Olympic spectacle with carbon fiber poles, 6-meter clearances, and padded landing mats, pole vaulting was pure survival engineering. In low-lying parts of Europe, especially the Netherlands, endless drainage ditches and canals separated individual farming plots. Walking all the way around to a bridge? Not an option.

So, farmers carried long wooden poles (polsstok) to vault right over the water.

That everyday shortcut eventually gave birth to Fierljeppen (literally "far-leaping"), a traditional Frisian sport where athletes sprint toward a 13-meter pole planted in a canal, climb frantically toward the top while it tilts forward, and launch themselves onto a sandbank on the other side.

Over decades, human curiosity turned rural canal hopping into gymnastics, refined the physics, upgraded the materials, and gave us the modern track and field event we know today. Sports innovation doesn’t always start in a high-tech lab, sometimes it starts with a problem in a muddy field. 🧠📈

Did you know pole vaulting started as canal jumping, or did you think it was invented for track? Drop your thoughts below 👇

42 years apart, but looking at them side-by-side feels like a glitch in the matrix. 🏃‍♀️✨

When Vithya Ramraj clocked 54.75 seconds to shatter P.T. Usha’s 42-year-old national record in the 400m hurdles, she didn’t just break the longest-standing benchmark in Indian track and field, she took the baton of history.

But what gives you literal chills is placing young P.T. Usha from the 1986 Seoul Asian Games right next to Vithya today. The uncanny resemblance cannot be missed.

For over four decades, Indian sports waited for someone to breach that barrier. And when the moment finally arrived, it felt less like a random coincidence and more like a plan already written in the stars. The torch didn't just pass, it found its rightful bearer. 🇮🇳🔥

Did you notice the resemblance between the two? Drop your thoughts in the comments below 👇

Different field, different uniform, same mission: service to the motherland. 🇮🇳⚔️

Out of India’s 495-strong athlete contingent, 62 Indian Army personnel brought back a staggering 20 medals. That's 12.5% of the total contingent. The Army alone was behind nearly a quarter of India’s entire 85-medal haul. 🥇🥈🥉

And that championship culture runs across our entire defense and security forces. Beyond the Army:

• Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP): ASI Parveen Hooda fought her way to a historic Gold in Women’s 65kg Boxing.

• Indian Navy: Powered India’s charge in water sports and rowing, with rowers like Satnam Singh securing podium finishes on the water.

Drop an Indian flag 🇮🇳 in the comments to salute our Armed Forces athletes!

The women of Team India didn’t just travel to Japan to compete, they showed up to completely rewrite the record books. 🇮🇳✨

Welcome to Golden Girls of India ft. Japan.

While headlines often gravitate toward the same familiar names, what happened at the 2026 Asian Games was nothing short of a seismic shift. We are talking about three completely different disciplines, three relentless journeys, and three athletes who refused to let pressure define their limits:

🎯 Chikitha Taniparthi: Quiet focus, surgical precision, and cool composure under the most intense archery targets Asia had to offer.

🔫 Neeru Dhanda: Breaking barriers in shotgun trap shooting, proving that sheer grit and mental resilience can shatter decades-old continental records.

⚡️️ Vithya Ramraj: Pure, unyielding speed over the hurdles, chasing down legacy times that stood untouched for generations.

These stories aren’t just about podium finishes, they are a masterclass in what happens when undeniable talent meets elite preparation and relentless mental fortitude.

Which of these three breakthroughs inspired you the most this week? Drop your thoughts below 👇

At one point in history, your morning coffee could end your sports career. ☕️🚫

It sounds wild today, but for nearly two decades, a base ingredient in one of the most common everyday beverages in the world was treated as a prohibited performance enhancer by international sports authorities.

While athletes rely on caffeine daily for a clean mental edge, alertness, and delaying fatigue, there was a time when crossing a specific threshold in your urine sample could completely ruin your career.

So why did anti-doping authorities eventually pull it off the official banned list, and what does the rulebook actually say about it today? Watch the breakdown to see the bizarre history behind sports' favorite stimulant. 🧠👀

Do you use pre-workout or coffee before training, or is it just pure vibes and will power? Comment below. 👇

Turns out cooking up a champion requires a very specific recipe. 🧑‍🍳🥇

Everyone loves to see an athlete served hot on the top podium, but what actually happens in the kitchen? Raw talent is just a tiny pinch of the starter. The real secret sauce is everything that simmers behind the scenes; nutrition, elite coaching, family sacrifices, and years of slow-cooked discipline.

Which ingredient is hardest to measure? Drop your take below 👇

A woman posts a basic hip mobility drill but men in the comments DO NOT care about the exercise.

Why is it easier to look at foreign fitness influencers as influential but Indian influencers are reduced to their sex and marital lives?

And whose business is it other than her own to worry about the condition of her body parts or the satisfaction of her partner?

It begs the question: is this a chronic lack of sex education or have people just completely abandoned basic manners and decency.

To be this audacious, to think that you are entitled to pass opinions like these to women, just because they are from your country.

Mobility is functional anatomy. Flexibility is athletic performance. Normalizing movement shouldn't be an uphill battle in 2026, for ANYONE.

Real mentorship protects an athlete's health and future, it doesn’t gamble with it ⚖️

Athletics coach Rakesh Kumar has made history by becoming the first Indian coach handed a lifetime ban by NADA, sending a massive shockwave through the system.

For years, athletes were taught to follow their coach without questioning anything. But the harsh truth in modern sports is that saying "my coach told me to take it" will not save you from a multi-year ban.

Under anti-doping rules, strict liability falls on the athlete. If someone hands you a pill, powder, or injection, it is your responsibility to verify it before it enters your system.

The good news? You don’t have to guess. WADA and NADA have built two game-changing digital tools to keep you protected:

🚨 Speak Up by WADA: A completely secure, confidential platform designed for athletes and support staff to anonymously report doping pressure, shady practices, or coaches pushing illegal substances.

🔍 Know Your Medicine (KYM) by NADA: An official search database where you can type in Indian pharmaceutical brands and over-the-counter drugs to instantly check if any ingredient appears on the Prohibited List.

The 2026 Asian Games kicked off with scenes nobody expected: international athletes stranded at airports, sleeping in tents on the floor for 12+ hours, missed training slots because team buses were poorly organized, and players having to go without breakfast.

When a mega multi-sport event crumbles like this, people are quick to blame the top brass. But here is the sports management reality: the biggest operational disasters aren't solved in boardroom meetings, they are prevented at the ground level.

Volunteers and ground crew are the literal backbone of any sporting spectacle. When you don't train them, communicate clearly, or take care of your team, the entire machine falls apart.

You can have millions in budget and fancy venues, but if the workforce on the floor is underprepared and overwhelmed, your event is cooked.

The lesson? Don’t take your volunteers for granted. Train them. Delegate properly. Communicate relentlessly. Take care of the people running the ground. 🏟📋

Have you ever volunteered or worked ground crew at an event where the logistics went completely off the rails? Drop your story below 👇
