Planned time off work Thursday and Friday. Got the details in order to Hike out to Point of Arches on Shi-Shi Beach.

Plan, Hopes, and Goal was Milky Way photography. Weather, at the time, had potential for cooperation.

Thursday night I saw one star for maybe 3 min. Made the short jaunt from my tent after a meal to see if maybe a break in the clouds was going to happen… It did not.

Friday night was the same. Pretty thick cloud cover.

These to nights I worked on images like these, and these two are the ones I’m happy with.

I also have a new, strengthened appreciation and understanding for the unique photography, destination photography. So much goes into these images behind the settings.

Walking a trail back to camp, the evening sun rays shown through the timber canopy to illuminate this Trillium. The white flower glowed amongst the green for just a couple minutes. Stopped by a local park along the river this evening. Just out for a look at what might present an opportunity. 📷

Quickly spotted a Great Blue Heron hunting along the waters edge. Photographed it for a few moments as the sun continued to fall.

Found a few varieties of ducks as the song sparrows and red-winged black birds sang. Light was challenging to photograph but the experience was warm.

Best moments soon became the fleeting light reflecting off the clouds. While i was looking for wildlife, I was rewarded with a wonderful sunset on the banks of the river.

Truly what these moments are for. 😊

Canada Geese.

“That’s all they are…” True in the sense, they are not “extraordinary” or rare. Quite common for sure.
But this particular Sunday evening… They were special. At least the moments I spent observing them was.

I set out for a simple walk with the camera. No initial goal, no hopes or desires for a great photograph. Just time spent out in the late afternoon sun. To be there for what may be seen.

Seeing the increased number of geese, I’d hoped to capture some photos of them stretching out of the water and flapping their wings.

My second lap around the pond I stopped to watch them congregated a bit far and hidden from a clear view. I waited and watched as they slowly moved closer to a more open area. I tried to capture them flapping their winds without much success. Each one seemed to start off while I was fixated on a different group.

Then my attention turned to the colors reflected in the water from the forested background and the evening sun. Such vibrant colors! Would’ve been fantastic to capture my ideal photograph in these conditions. Just didn’t quite happen. Couple groups flew by, seemingly calling to the groups down below. Then in a moments time they let out some calls and took off for their next destination.

It was and is in these moments, the colors, the reflecting sun as they flew off that will remain. The biggest reason to walk out there. In a quest for “The Photo.”

Each photo is unedited, straight from the camera . Flawed I’m sure, but special to those evening moments.
