1K followers from one video felt surreal. And honestly, it made me uncomfortable. Not because growth isn’t good — but because that viral moment didn’t speak to who I actually am or what Roots of Radiance is actually about.

But then something shifted. I realized it doesn’t matter what the algorithm does or doesn’t do. Jesus has His own purpose. Whatever this content is meant to be, whoever it’s meant to reach and help — that’s who it’ll reach. The algorithm isn’t in charge of that.

So if you’re new here and this resonated with you — I’m genuinely glad you stuck around.

Here’s what we actually do on this page:

We dig to the root of our issues — mind-body awareness and connection. Discovering what’s really going on beneath the surface.

We get rooted in Him — His word first. Food as medicine. Neuroscience that proves what the Bible already said. Speaking His truth over our lives instead of listening to the noise of the world.

And we’re building roots for generational healing — breaking cycles so the next generation doesn’t inherit the same patterns. by @rootsofradiancewithash

This one hit home for me.

Emergency C-section. Antibiotics. Trouble nursing. My daughter had diarrhea and blood in her stool for eight months. The medical system looked at me like I was just a crazy first-time mom. I took a course on nutrition and one on movement to help heal her myself.

Got testing done that finally confirmed what I already suspected — high inflammation, C. difficile, an overgrowth of bad bacteria in her gut. It started with me changing my own diet, learning how to cook differently, getting toxins out of our environment.

From the movement modality I studied, I began to understand the mind-body connection — how movement actually breeds life for our body and our mind.

It took my husband a while, but seeing how much my daughter and my life changed he started gardening, studying, paying attention to what he puts in his body.

We see health as wealth. We want to sow seeds of generational healing that change the trajectory not just for our daughter, but for generations to come.

This is what I first became passionate about sharing — and this page is about the little nuggets I’ve learned along the way. I’m happy you’re here. 🤍

For years, it might have looked like my path was going a certain way — trouble with the law, addicted to drugs, in toxic relationships. People not believing in me. No support.

In Portugal, at the Sanctuary of Fátima, I asked God to reveal Himself to me. A year later I moved to Thailand and found a little church. Gave my life to Christ and never looked back.

God rewrote my story.

Because of Him, I get to live a beautiful life, break the patterns and the cycles, and pave a new path — for my daughter and for generations to come.

All praise and glory go to Him.

“But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.” Psalms‬ ‭73‬:‭28‬ ‭

Thanks @jun_yuh and @creatorcollege_ for giving me the means to structure this story.

Proverbs 4:20-22 had much encouragement for me today.

Let’s get into our Word and use it to speak life over our bodies, our family, and friends, neighborhoods, workplaces- you name it, the Word can penetrate anywhere. It is powerful!

Microbiome Mondays: Bulletproof coffee with a twist

Traditionally, a bulletproof coffee is coffee blended with butter, MCT oil, and an egg yolk. This one uses Dandy Blend tea instead, which is made from roasted chicory, barley, rye, and dandelion roots. It actually tastes like coffee, so if you’re looking for a replacement, this is it.

THE RECIPE
- 1 tbsp Dandy Blend
- 1 tsp to 1 tbsp cultured butter (or any butter)
- 2 tsp MCT oil
- 1 tsp to 1 tbsp honey
- 1 raw egg yolk

WHY EACH ONE IS IN THERE
- Dandy Blend: calming for the gut, and traditionally used to support the liver
- MCT oil: the body processes it quickly and turns it into an alternative fuel source, which is where the mental clarity comes from
- Cultured butter: fermented, so it has live bacteria in it, and it provides butyrate, which is great for the gut lining
- Honey: antimicrobial, and it adds the sweetness
- Egg yolk: vitamins A, D, E, K, and B12, plus choline and healthy fats

Your body has been speaking to you all along.

A symptom isn’t always something to silence, suppress, or simply push through. Sometimes, it can be an invitation to slow down, pay attention, and become curious about what your body may be trying to communicate.

There is so much wisdom in learning to notice the patterns—your energy, digestion, sleep, stress, emotions, and cycles—and asking better questions instead of immediately reaching for something to make the message disappear.

These are five books that have shaped the way I think about the body and taught me to listen differently.

Not every symptom has one simple explanation, and listening to your body isn’t about becoming fearful of every sensation. It’s about becoming more connected to yourself and more curious about what your body may be telling you.

Your body is not your enemy.
It is communicating with you.

Our bodies are not separate from the One who created them. There is wisdom in paying attention to what He has wonderfully designed—and bringing what we discover back to Him.

Listen to your body. Bring it to God. Let Him lead you in how you care for it.

Some days you don’t need a strategy. You need to remember whose you are. Sometimes I need to write out my prayers, then come back to them to speak them aloud.

This is one I sat with this weekend.

Father in Heaven,

You are holy and set a part from this world. Far beyond what I can even conceive of.

You have authority over all. Help me to remember this when messages from the world seem so bleak and dark. You are Provider. Help me remember this when I worry about finances, my job, capacity, and tomorrow. You are unconditional love. Help me remember this when I seek out validation and love from all the wrong places. You are peace and joy that surpasses our circumstances and understanding. Open my eyes to this, in the moments that are hard and uncertain.

I come to you, and rest in YOU. Thank you for gently leading me through distractions and the things I run to. Thank you for always beckoning me back to your loving embrace.

Your mercy and grace sustains me. Thank you for not counting my sins and mishaps against me. To you, I am your little girl, the apple of your eye. You delight in me and rejoice over me. Your thoughts of me are more numerous than the sand. Help me to experience this deeply.

Your thoughts are above my thoughts. Your ways are higher than my ways. When I can’t see what’s ahead of me, unsure of the next steps, I will trust that my life is in your hands.

Daily life can feel like a lot. The million and one things to do. Being spread so thin while giving to so many others. You are my source that grounds me, that which gives me life, my energy, and safety. I love you.

You deserve all the praise and glory. In Jesus’ mighty name.

Save this and send it to a friend who thinks needs this prayer spoken over them. 🤍

Have you ever looked around at the women in your family and asked what happens to us as we get older?

I look at my mom. I look at what our system hands people once they start aging — and it’s rarely “let’s figure out the root of this.” It’s a prescription. Another one. And another one after that.

I don’t think that’s an accident. A system built to manage symptoms instead of solve them keeps people coming back. It keeps them dependent. And dependency is profitable.

Before you read the rest of this — I’m not anti-medicine. Modern medicine is a gift. It saves lives. That’s not what I’m talking about here. I’m talking about a system whose incentive isn’t always your healing — it’s your return visit.

Here’s something I’ve been sitting with: the Greek word pharmakeia — the word Paul uses in Galatians 5:20, translated “sorcery” or “witchcraft” — is also the root of our English word “pharmacy.” In the ancient world, drugs, potions, and control over people weren’t separate categories the way we think of them now. I’m not saying the Bible is making a statement about modern medicine. But it’s worth thinking about — that root word connecting drugs and control — when you look at the money and malintent that can live inside an industry like big pharma.

So what’s the alternative? I keep coming back to the Blue Zones — the places in the world where people live the longest, healthiest lives. Not because of a pill. Because of community. Food. Movement. Some kind of belief system bigger than themselves.

That’s not a five-step plan. That’s just what’s actually been proven to work.

I don’t want to be dependent on a system that profits from me staying sick. I want to break that pattern — for me, and for my daughter after me.

Back for Microbiome Mondays

For most of my life, my health wasn’t the priority. Work was. Having fun,
traveling — everything else came first.

Then I got married, and something clicked. This was the time to build new
patterns. But it wasn’t easy — all I knew was one way of cooking, shopping,
eating. Food had become how I coped. And I was always run down, always
getting sick, never quite feeling well in my own body.

I knew something had to give. So I started learning — about gut health,
about the environment I was living in and how much of it was working
against me, not for me.

The hardest part wasn’t the information. It was the shift itself. Buying
organic. Watching my grocery bill climb (I swear I spend more on food than
anything else now). Replacing cookware and utensils I’d used for years.
None of it happened all at once — it’s taken six years, and I’m still not
done.

When my daughter’s health challenges forced me to change my diet fast, it
sent me down some unhealthy paths in the wellness world too — the kind
where bio-individuality isn’t talked about, certain foods get demonized,
restriction gets praised like a badge of honor. Everyone shows you the
healing. Almost nobody shows you the detox period, the stretch where you
feel worse before you feel better.

I’m still on this journey. But these are the things I wish someone had
told me when I started.

Media has come a long way since I was growing up.

There’s good and bad to every era.
But what I’ve noticed from some of the shows my daughter watches is that they’re actually teaching somatics and breath work.

I love this episode especially — it teaches that our emotions go somewhere in our body. Stomach aches. Neck pain. Shoulder pain. Back pain. You name it.

Gut research and fascia research have both come a long way in the last ten years. Fascia’s even newer. Both have been called the second brain — where emotion is stored.

Our nervous system takes in so much information we don’t even notice, and it stores it there.

If we’re not paying attention to the messages our body sends us throughout the day — that stomach ache, that neck pain, that back pain — it accumulates and becomes something bigger.

So grateful for lessons like this. I get to teach my daughter now, so she doesn’t have to spend years disconnected from her body and its messages the way I was.

This task from the storytelling challenge was quite the doozy. But I did it!!😆

I do recommend going back to your younger self with fresh eyes — every decision you make adds up to who you are today.

This challenge reminded me to have self-compassion, to give myself grace, to slow it down, to enjoy every moment, and to not fret about what’s to come.
