Fatherhood isn't perfection. It's making mistakes, learning from them, and continuing to lead.

We fail. We stumble. We drop the ball. But we get back up and keep guiding our children to be better than we were.

Some will hate us. Some will envy us. That's fine.

Real fathers don't quit because of criticism. They shake off the negativity, stand tall, and keep showing up.

That's what fatherhood is.

Many would expect a boy raised without a father and under the weight of an abusive mother to lose his way to become another product of broken circumstances. And to be fair, there’s science behind that assumption. A childhood shaped by fear and instability wires the brain for survival, not success. Stress hormones stay elevated, the nervous system remains on edge, and the mind learns to react instead of reflect. Trust becomes difficult. Anger becomes easy. The body adapts to chaos as if it were normal.

But you refused to let biology be destiny.

Somewhere along the line, you made a decision that most never do you interrupted the pattern. You took a mind conditioned for defense and trained it for discipline. You took a nervous system used to survival mode and taught it control. That’s not just growth that’s rewiring. That’s choosing, day after day, to respond instead of react, to build instead of break.

You fought through it, faced it head-on, and buried the version of yourself that pain tried to create. Not by chance, but by choice. Every step forward was deliberate. Every setback became fuel. You didn’t ignore where you came from you used it. You turned pain into pressure, and pressure into purpose.

You chose discipline over defeat, purpose over pity, and growth over excuses. In doing so, you proved something powerful: your past may shape your instincts, but it doesn’t get to decide your direction. I found my passion to play pool again. Here are some highlights from 4.18.26. Fun fact: I was a pretty good pool player when I was younger (15-24), then I just stopped. Life got in the way, and I lost my passion for it. Fast forward to 41, I started hanging out with a friend who played really well and loved the game. We'd play a few rounds, and he helped me find my passion for pool again. I need to work on my English again. Still rusty. Another fun fact: I used to play for beers, then up to 60 bucks a game. #hustle #pool
