🩸Sickle Cell Walk-A-Thon🩸

Walked this past Saturday and it was a GREAT day. Reunited with my old camp counselors/campers/campmates, and also met some new folks. 🏕️

I will always support anything that involves fundraising for better healthcare facilities & advocating for insurance coverage policies that cater to the SC population, and spreading awareness about sickle cell in general. SCD disproportionately affects the African-American community and I personally know those who battle with the complications more severely than others that DO have it. Some fellow camp friends of mine passed away years ago, and there are some who can’t catch a break because they undergo hospitalizations frequently. While there are home remedies to alleviate the symptoms of this disorder, treatment options are still limited, with some only being accessible to a certain subset of patients. I hope that there will be more scientific breakthroughs soon. It’s been one of my biggest ongoing wishes for a very long time.🌍🇨🇫🇳🇬❤️
