H y p n o s

A3 Original work, Fineliner, India inks, Vinyl

My second original piece for the Wirksworth festival this weekend (7th-8th Sept)

This project pushed my digital knowledge, I sketched and did all of the linework first on paper, then scanned the image in to create vector shapes for the vinyl. I layered each piece by hand and it looks unreal in person!

I did my best to digitally recreate the textures of the vinyl for the print, and I will also have three hand-layered prints for sale at the festival

Royal Oak Pub Sign

Digitally illustrated & printed

Earlier this year I had the opportunity to create the new pub sign for one of my local pubs in Wirksworth, @royaloakwirksworth
I tried to keep my design close to traditional 'Royal Oak' sign imagery, but also included my own style within the textures and detail.

I'll be showing a large print of this work on the Wirksworth Arts Trail this weekend (7th-8th Sept), and you can now see the finished sign on North End Rd outside the pub if you happen to be walking by!

I illustrated the digital image with some back and forth feedback, Jim the landlord created the Oak surround and the lettering.

A3 Original work, India Inks and Posca Markers

This piece alongside some of my other originals and my collection of sketchbooks will be on display this weekend (7th-8th Sept) on the Wirksworth Arts Trail @wirksworthfestival

I have been absolutely grinding this summer to get these pieces done, super happy with how this froggo turned out and the vibrancy of the image shows through in the prints!

I've also set up a new store through a local printing shop that I'll share soon :)

Resonance

My big illustration for 2023
It's been a massive project but as always I'm really proud of the result :)

This year I'm selling prints of this piece (and 2 others from the last few years) that you can find on Etsy - (RortDraws)
Any prints sold by this Friday will be sent out before Christmas!

The inspiration for this piece was to visualise the feeling of sharing an idea that resonates with someone else.
That's the feeling I hope to achieve with everything I draw, it's a warm and welcoming emotion that I want to express and share, and I hope it connects with you too

I used coloured pencil for the line work and coloured India inks to achieve the vibrancy I wanted

Big thanks to @bea.wayte for the photo reference, and to everyone that's bought a print so far :) by @rortism

Some of my life drawing from the past couple of weeks, sort of chronologically.
When I started going to sessions in October, it had been a few years since I did any life drawing. I started by using pens, but one week I tried coloured pencil and I've really found my groove with it :)

I'm really proud of this work, it's been amazing to see improvement so quickly. The first three poses were 40 minute drawings, the others 20 mins.

I have a large piece in coloured pencil in the works that should be done by the end of November, can't wait to share it :)
