Welcome to Gertrude, Rosa Luetchford.

Luetchford paints people in the act of becoming someone else. Her models appear disguised as cultural figures and mythical creatures, constructing scenes that sit somewhere between identity and performance.

Link in bio to explore Rosa’s work on Gertrude now.

Glimmer
Oil on linen, 41cm x 51cm

A painting inspired by walking barefoot over the mudflats and the unnerving feeling of stepping on something unknown and spikey! Perhaps a mudflats monster, creature, wanderer?

This mudflat wanderer waits beneath the surface, with flatfish-like eyes and seaweed entangled hair.

Clips of prop making and my very patient, collaborative model (sister @ash_algiz )

The mudflats were a place of play for me, my siblings and childhood friends. Mud fights, mud bathing? (@leylaledwith ) and a racecourse to the sea.
