It’s called the Grandmother Effect, and it may be one of the most quietly powerful longevity habits there is: when the generations stay close, everyone lives longer.

It runs in both directions 👇

For the grandchild. Across societies studied throughout history, children with a living, involved grandparent were more likely to survive and thrive. It’s one of the most consistent findings in all of human family research.

For the grandparent. Those who help care for their grandchildren tend to outlive those who don’t. In one long-running study, grandparents who pitched in had roughly a one-third lower risk of dying over the years that followed.

Why? Because staying involved keeps you in the game: more steps, more purpose, more laughter, and less loneliness, the very things that protect the heart and the mind.

One clarification: the name is historical, born from studying why women live so long past childbearing. But grandfathers who stay involved get the very same boost. It was never only about grandmothers, it’s really the grandparent effect.

It’s no accident that in the world’s blue zones, elders don’t live apart, they live among. “Family first” is one of the Power 9, and it quietly adds years to both ends of the table.

So pull up a chair, for the grandparents and the grandkids alike. That time together may be doing more for everyone’s health than almost anything else you could plan.

What a fabulous few days we had with Billy Fullam and Sienna George in Bozeman! Photos of scenery don’t begin to describe the beauty and breathtaking views we shared. We were doubly blessed to have Jay and Therese George join us there. Billy and Sisi are amazing hosts and special hugs to Revel and Jo, our granddogs, for bringing us smiles and laughter. While I wasn’t blessed with a daughter through birth, I have my beautiful “daughter “, Brooke. She in turn blew me with my greatest gift, Penelope. I am eternally grateful for both 🙏❤️🫶 by @rosannefullam

I purchased this board in 2022 and loved its looks and tracking with 3 fins. However, I missed the fine print regarding storage of board which says keep it out of the sun. Really, a paddle board that can’t take the sun? During the first summer, the teal dye came off on clothes, boat cushions and body parts. I was told to scrub with soapy water to stop that, which did not work. This season the faux wood lamination began to peel in several places. I was told that these problems occurred because my board sat in the sun rather than under cover. Come on, it’s a piece of outdoor equipment and these are issues I have not had with SUPs from other companies. I will not be replacing this with another Cruiser products.
