“With a seemingly genetic predisposition to fight for those who can’t fight for themselves, Sadiqah makes an action-packed debut worthy of classic martial arts cinema. The Search for Sadiqah recalls those kung fu costume dramas full of wayward students, wizened masters, and hidden secrets with a refreshingly Black American twist. This is not just a pastiche of genre, but an expert blend of Eastern motifs and American folklore, and I can’t wait to read more!” —Jamie Noguchi, artist of School for Extraterrestrial Girls

“Sadiqah is something truly rare. Part history and part folklore, it captures the spirit of things like The Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Prydain, building a fun new mythology out of the sometimes hard to understand realities of history. It’s beautiful and exciting and deserves to be your next obsession.” —Jeremy Whitley, author of Princeless and School for Extraterrestrial Girls

“When I think about Greg Burnham’s work, the first word that comes to my mind is ‘substance.’ After Tuskegee Heirs and Little Rock Files, Greg delves back into black historical fiction in this inspired story of very special 13-year-old named Sadiqah.” —Fabrice Sapolsky, comic book creator, publisher of FairSquare Graphics

“In this graphic novel extravaganza, we are treated to history, fantasy, action, and a sort of Afrofuturist eye view of what has been imbued in Africanist folklore such as Virginia Hamilton’s The People Could Fly.” —Tony Medina, author of I Am Alfonso Jones

“Mia Tijam’s stories come from a place of memory and study that reminds Filipino readers of who and what we are; and more, it introduces non-Filipino readers to the hidden psyche of our culture. Her voice is proudly of the Philippines, and her type of speculative fiction does not shirk from telling her tales in a distinct voice and language, unafraid to touch on subjects that may be challenging and difficult.” —Kenneth Yu, Mouths to Speak, Voices to Sing
