Absolutely obsessed with Mischa in Palm Trees and the raw wisdom she imparts on the young and conflicted Zed.
Not without Mischas own bias, resentments and conflict ingrained but that’s human, right?

It was my birthday a couple days ago.
Took a quick second to reflect on this past year.
Long post incoming…
What can I even say about it? There aren’t really words.
I’ll start with thank you… and gratitude. The active kind. The “how can I serve, how can I show up, put me to work” kind.
To God, my family, my friends, my sobriety, Madison, my sponsor, my mentors, my coworkers, my gym crew; from Muay Thai to the program peeps to the film fam, those I learn from, those I teach and everyone in between. The universe. Beyond. I’m available. Use me.
Most transformative year of my life. Holy sheesh. Challenges galore. Some I chose. Some chose me. Grateful for all of ’em.
I created a motto and way of life: “Unwavering faith and relentless pressure.” Seems to be working so far.
Fueled by the gift of desperation. A little divine intervention. I don’t know the full formula… but I do know this:
When I stopped running from the hard choices and leaned into the uncomfortable, I found radical growth.
Real, grown-man growth. Accountability. Self-awareness. Objectivity.
Changed inside… outside followed. One step at a time. Moving. Trusting. Marching forward.
Let myself look back for a moment and damn… I can barely see where I started. And there’s still so much road ahead.
It’s nice here. But, I’m curious what’s further.
Gonna keep moving ahead to find out.
Life’s a trip. There was a time I wasn’t sure I’d see 18. What a ride, man. Love you all.

Monster movie madness!!!!
Had such an AMAZING table read and workshop for my horror/comedy creature feature script “MINE” with this incredibly talented, generous group of artists!!! Some old friends, some new ones. All community and I LOVE IT!!!

HUGE thanks to Darcy Fowler (@darfow ), who put it all together and is such a champion of up-and-coming writers and filmmakers. A mentor who’s become a friend and someone I’m endlessly grateful for!!!! Cannot sum up in a simple gram post how much your support and encouragement means.
Okay… now…
On early stage table reads… so important… hearing the work read aloud by talented folks is clutch… holy sheeesh does it magnify the jokes and scares and moments that work BUT also ultra-mega-highlights the ones that totally DON’T lol.
And it’s just a damn good time to come together and laugh and eat pizza.
More excited than ever about this project.

MARY: is a psychological horror short film, which at the time, I thought we were just making a mind-bendy kidnapping story.
Watching it now, I think I was making a film about identity.
About how much of who we are is built out of what we want, and what happens when wanting something starts to take over the person doing the wanting.
Ego, desire, greed, accountability.
Those same ideas show up in almost everything I’ve made since.
MARY was the first time I dug in the mud looking for them.
It played festivals during its run and won Best Short at the @freakshowfilmfest .
Everyone who’s seen it seems to land somewhere different. And I love that.

The Milgram experiment asked a pretty simple question: how far will ordinary people go when someone in authority tells them to keep going?
Participants were instructed to deliver what they believed were increasingly painful electric shocks to another person. Even when that person appeared to be suffering, many continued simply because an authority figure told them to.
The lyrics of this song gave me the idea to interpret that classic experiment through a person being subjected to those same forces, but then push it further and ask: what happens when the electric shocks stop working?
Or, more deeply: what happens when the oppressed stop doing what they’re told?
Resistance happens.
And that can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people. Relationships, health, spirit, society.
Standing up for yourself. That’s what this is about.
And, of course… it’s got heaps of horror, sci-fi, and the weirdness that I love. It’s that time of the year to post clips from my horror season work.

I sat down with longtime friend Raul Rosco Guerrero @roscorg, founder of @peoplepicturesco, to talk about filmmaking, music discovery, and just how much the right song can change what happens on screen.

We go back to the Denver electronic music scene that helped launch both of us down some pretty unexpected career paths, including Rosco shooting artists at Beta Nightclub before moving into music videos and ultimately writing, directing, and producing in film and television.

We also get into finding and licensing music for film, the danger of falling in love with a temp track, soundtracks that shaped us, and why music can sometimes be the difference between a movie working and not working at all.

Before Raul Rosco Guerrero became a Los Angeles-based writer, director, producer and founder of @peoplepicturesco, he was a guy with a camera who found his way into Beta Nightclub just as dance music was exploding.

That put him in the room with artists like Tiësto, deadmau5 and Dada Life, opening a path from filming club nights to pitching labels and directing music videos, and ultimately to writing, directing and producing in the feature film and television space.

Rosco and I go way back, so this conversation took us deep into Denver dance music history, the blog era, filmmaking, music discovery and the strange turns that shape a creative career.

So excited for @theclimbmovie to have its official festival premiere at the wonderful @lashortsfest .

I wrote this with @shawneebadger years ago, and seeing it finally come to life, starring @adamjharrington and beautifully directed by @justinmhogan and now premiere at this legendary, Academy Award–qualifying Los Angeles festival feels like a true full-circle moment.

I can’t wait to sit in a theater with an audience and experience this one on the big screen. So grateful to everyone who brought this to life.

So excited for @intheredfilm , an incredible horror film I’ve had the pleasure of producing with @peoplepicturesco and a list of collaborators too long to list here (but coming soon) . Wore a whole lot of hats on this one but honestly, that’s one of the greatest joys of independent filmmaking.

Starring the incomparable Spartacus and Wolverine himself @liam.j.mcintyre , with an equally incredible performance from @myrnzilla , and written by and starring the badasses @jboulton87 and @jareth_spirio .

It’s been amazing working with Director @thetommydevries and helping champion his vision from script to screen. His passion is infectious and passionate filmmaking is what it’s all about!!!

We had our friends-and-family private viewing event last night, and the response was through the roof. I can’t wait for this film to begin its festival run and, eventually, find audiences around the world.
