🔎Meet Artist, Writer and Art Critic Rose Vidal, 2026 @villa.albertine Resident.

Until October 31, Rose is in residence in Chicago, exploring the opioid crisis through artistic research, listening, and storytelling.

🎙️ Building on her research into the crack and heroin epidemics, she will meet people living through the crisis—patients, families, caregivers, and frontline workers—and transform these encounters into new forms of writing and collective storytelling.

✨ Her project asks how art can create spaces to listen to stories that too often remain unheard.

It has been nearly a year since I came to understand that my obsession with writing was, at its very origin, a mysterious passion for form. I loved writing before I knew how to read; I loved it foreign, and unreadable.

For a long time, fragments of script lingered in and around my drawings. Now it is for writing to remember that it is, before all else, a drawing, and for me to honour once more, each time it refuses to be deciphered, this most ancient love.

Ça fait bientôt un an que j’ai réalisé combien mon obsession de l’écriture était en premier lieu, aux origines, une mystérieuse passion plastique. J’ai aimé l’écriture avant de savoir lire ; je l’ai aimée étrangère et illisible.

Il y a longtemps eu des traces d’écritures dans et autour de mes dessins. À présent c’est à l’écriture de se rappeler qu’elle est elle-même, avant toute chose, un dessin, et à moi de célébrer de nouveau, chaque fois qu’elle se refuse à être déchiffrée, ce très ancien amour.

À l’occasion de Night Mode, sa première exposition personnelle en France, Rose Vidal a rencontré Arash Nassiri à la Fondation Pernod Ricard. L’exposition réunit un ensemble de sculptures inédites et le film A Bug’s Life (2026) dans un environnement lumineux conçu comme un seul espace de mise en scène.

Le projet prend pour sujet les “palais persans” de Beverly Hills, des villas construites par l’architecte Hamid Omrani pour la diaspora iranienne après 1979. Filmées du point de vue d’une marionnette-insecte, ces architectures d’opulence sont explorées de nuit, dans un regard à la fois subjectif et sensoriel.

Inspired by archival documentary films showcasing historical events over the 20th century, Julien Heintz’s paintings capture atmospheres from a different time, representing yet recognisable traits of anonymous human figures, initially seen in movement, on the verge of abstraction and figuration.

Graduated from the @beauxartsparis in 2024, Julien Heintz participated in numerous international group shows including Six Painters (2020) at @the_koppel_project, London; Degré zéro (2022) and Crush (2022, 2024) at the @beauxartsparis and exhibited at @cfagalleryshows Berlin (Germany), @monti8_ (Italy), @palproject (France), @hatch_paris (France), @exoexo.xyz (France) and @johsgallery (Mexico). @mennour presented a first solo exhibition in Paris in 2025 entitled “Residual Moments”.

Pensée en collaboration avec @perrotin, la série (A)TYPICAL DAY se veut une immersion dans le quotidien des artistes, à travers leurs ateliers et les lieux qui nourrissent leur pratique. À Paris, Christiane Pooley a accueilli @rose__vidal dans son univers, où la peinture devient un espace de mémoire et de réparation. Née au sud du Chili, dans la région d’Araucanía, une terre transformée par la colonisation agricole, elle puise dans ce paysage d’enfance une charge à la fois génétique et affective. Ses toiles verticales, à la mesure du corps, s’ouvrent comme des portails vers des contrées intérieures, où absences, rêves et héritages prennent forme matière. Son exposition “Trilla” est actuellement visible chez @perrotin à Shanghai jusqu’au 15 août 2026.

Conceived in collaboration with @perrotin, the series (A)TYPICAL DAY is intended as an immersion into the daily lives of artists, through their studios and the places that nourish their practice. In Paris, Christiane Pooley welcomed @rose__vidal into her world, where painting becomes a space of memory and transformation. Born in southern Chile, in the Araucanía region, a land reshaped by agricultural colonisation, she draws from this childhood landscape a heritage that is at once genetic and emotional. Her vertical canvases, scaled to the body, open like portals onto inner territories where absences, dreams and inherited histories take material form. Her exhibition “Trilla” is currently on view at @perrotin Shanghai through August 15, 2026.
