We are deeply honored that our 2023 Touchstone Pinot Noir was awarded 100 points by Courtney Humiston of James Suckling. This recognition represents far more than a single vintage. It reflects years of dedication to understanding the terroir of the Willamette Valley, from the geology beneath the vines to the countless decisions made throughout each growing season and harvest. Finding singularity in the chaos. The Willamette Valley is geologically complex. Ancient lava flows. Tectonic uplift. Catastrophic floods. Erosion and time. Layer upon layer of events have created a landscape where the geology beneath our feet can change dramatically within remarkably short distances. This is where our work begins. We search for singular places within that complexity. Places where the underlying geology creates a distinct environment for the vine, sometimes within only a few acres of a much larger vineyard. Through electrical conductivity mapping, soil pits, and the study of the rock beneath the surface, we identify these places and farm them independently. Not because complexity is something to simplify, but because within the chaos, there are places worth isolating. Places with their own structure, energy, and identity. by @roseandarrowestate
