I apologise now for using the C word before the end of October but, as you will see, the struggle is real. Does anyone know how to make my little shop bigger for the next two months?!!

Coming your way soon IRL and on-line .. everything you may need for Christmas gifting, Christmas decorating, gifts for him, gifts for her, gifts for kids, gifts for aunts and uncles, and we can definitely find you a gift for the person who has everything!!

I also just wanted to say that we really appreciate every single person that shops from us.. be it on-line or in person .. we have lost 2 shops on our little high street over the past 3 months and we don’t want to loose anymore.

We may not be able to compete with the Amazons of this world but every little item in my shop is carefully chosen with you (and sometimes me 😉😂) in mind.

And we work very hard at this time of year to create a little bit of magic for you 🪄

And thanks in advance to my brilliant team of lovely people that have to put up with the utter madness that is me!! Especially @jess_and_chips and @the_rarebirds 💕

And, OMG, the wrinkles .. mental note not to video outside in natural light 😂😂

🎄 Help make Bruton Festive Spirit happen this Christmas!

Bruton Festive Spirit, our much-loved Christmas fair, returns on Thursday 3 December.

This super sparkly evening is organised by Bruton Chamber of Commerce, a very small team who put a huge amount of time and energy into creating an evening the whole town enjoys. And this year, they could really use a few more pairs of hands ✨

There are lots of small, practical jobs to do between now and the event on Thursday 3rd December. None of them needs to be enormous, especially if we divide and conquer. 💪🏻

Could you spare a few hours, a day or two, or a little time here and there, taking responsibility for one manageable part of the organisation, either on your own or with a friend? 💚

That might mean sorting permissions for Christmas trees, making sure the trees go up in the right places, coordinating stewards on the night, helping position market stalls, hosting the children’s gifting stall, or one of the many other jobs that make the magic happen. The Chamber team will provide you with the info you need to make it super simple to help.

There really is something for every skillset. And rather than being given a giant to-do list, each volunteer will have one clear area to look after, making it easy to own and get done.

So excited to be a part of this lovely event @wraxallvineyard next weekend.. It’s their annual Harvesr Festival and we will be popping up with some lovely Autumn fashion and cosy home loveliness as well as some great gifting ideas (I can’t mention the C word yet..!!)
Do come along and see us and enjoy the vineyard tours and wine tasting on offer. Plus a delicious BBQ.

Just a little honest explanation as to why I haven’t been on here much! The best reason being on the second to last slide! (are they called slides?)

Normal and new business will resume after 9th Sept. Although I will prob put some stuff up before then.

I think I was supposed to be doing ‘kinda chic’ or ‘all about me’ but I haven’t!

Hope you have all had a wonderful summer and I feel very lucky that mine is about to be extended a little. I am not looking forward to shorter days but fear not .. we will always have something bright and colourful to chirp you up!!

Also hello to all my new followers (which are largely thanks to @natashamusson_stylist I think and her amazing Ibiza posts !) . Do stay with me for some great Autumn Winter fashion and fun!

It’s buying time folks!! For NEXT Spring and Summer. Come with me on my buying journey…(I wonder if all small fashion store owners feel the same overwhelm!! )

You visit the agencies showrooms, put your rail together from a divine selection (don’t forget I am a shopaholic eeeek!) .. then you trim it down a bit .. maybe .. if you can .. (wondering if we will have another very hot summer!)

Some brands give you a physical reminder for when you get home too (I appreciate this .. I think .. or does it make me add more designs as I see them on a model - which do you think 🫣🤣)

And then you get home and you go through the orders together with your photos and try to remember the size style .. does it come up oversized, or tight .. and who am I imagining wearing this .. and (again!) will it be another hot summer .. and then you add your size breaks and go back to the agencies .. who are busy themselves dealing with all their boutiques!

And then you double check everything again once you get the printed confirmations back .. just to be sure ALL bases are covered, make any amendments and repeat .. and then you wait … until February to April ish .. and the boxes of stock arrive with your beautiful selection and you know your customers are going to love it as much as you !! And you hope it’s going to be hot .. but with a bit more rain (at night please!) 😊 taken in Bruton High Street by @roseandlyons
