I was gifted a very cool book of 19th century anatomical plates recently, it's my favorite thing in the world. It's called "Atlas of human anatomy and surgery" by JM Bourgery & NH Jacob, if anyone wants their own. Always good for artists to study how bones and muscles work!

Pictures I took during my trip to Haworth, this summer. I kept running into strange people, how peculiar...

That was my second trip to Haworth and I enjoyed it so much. My friend and I kept talking about how beautiful our surroundings were and I was amazed by every cloud and every bit of heather, but it was also really nice to already have a familiarity with the village, the walks outside of town, so on. Best of both worlds! For my next trip, the goal is still to sew myself a 1780s style gown and wear it in the moors so I scare people and can pretend to be Catherine's ghost. As long as I don't talk, the illusion will be perfect. I can't do any accents, I will not sound right at all. Sorry Emily Brontë...

Across forty years. Fashion changed so quickly in late 18th/early 19th century France, and I always find it interesting to contemplate how many trends someone born in the late 1760s or 1770s would have lived through.

Also,thanks again for all the support on these drawings, it's nice to be able to use all my fashion history books for something! My favorite is "Le costume historique" by Auguste Racinet, a massive book of historical fashion plates that weighs at least a couple kilos. I love it so much.

Back to the late 1860s, forever one of my favorite eras for fashion. And I want to say welcome and thank you to all the talented people doing historical sewing who have followed me recently! Historical sewing accounts are a huge source of inspiration for me, for my art but also for motivation to improve my sewing. My sewing skills are very tragic now, but maybe with enough practice I can some day make myself the historical gowns I dream of...

And now, 1780s fashion! My idea was to show the same person in three different eras, re-purposing fabric to fit each new trend ; a noble child pre-Revolution, a fervent Republican in the early 1790s, a fashionable Parisian woman under Napoléon. It wasn't rare to rework some clothes in the new fashion over always ordering a whole new outfit from scratch, like who has that kind of money?

Young French people in 1793. After King Louis XVI's execution in January of that year (or early Pluviôse if you're cool), France was facing wars with most of Europe and also some internal ones, so the army became extremely important to the culture and politics of the era. I really like the menswear-inspired dresses of the early 1790s, and the way men's wigs went out of style. The long hair is very cute!

Some women in early 1800s/Consulate fashion! That's the short era between the first french Republic and the Empire. The main consul was someone named Napoleon Bonaparte, maybe you've heard of him... Fashionable women dressed in long, flowy dresses and stoles, inspired by roman statues. I think it would be fun to draw the same woman across the 1780s, 1790s, 1800s, 1810s... regimes kept changing, and because of that, fashion kept taking took hard turns too. I could picture these characters as serious turncoats who keep switching camps whenever power changes hands, hehe

Recent & older sketches of my BG3 character Emelin. I love to draw her in all sorts of gowns and historical clothes and tutus, even though in canon she probably just wore the same clothes every day for twenty years straight. I don't know why, but I enjoy drawing her more than any other character... my special darling!

Two little girls I sketched a long time ago, when I was trying to come up with picture book ideas. I was a pretty weird and morbid kid, so one of them was about a little girl whose best friend is a little girl vampire. The dress is not of any era specifically, she picks and chooses which trends she liked best from the last 100 years. Fashion!

Two friends from the 1880s! I don't think I'll do 1900 next, but I might go back in time. Personally, my favorite fashion is between the 1790s and the 1810s, and I recently spent a lot of money on a vintage Laura Ashley dress because it looked very 1800 in style. No regrets...
