Came across this little snippet of our last podcast broke my heart all over again. We always record the podcast on zoom in case we need the audio as back-up. Usually I delete the file as soon as the show is out. This time around I’d clipped this tiny bit out as we caught Richard - finally, after so many years of resistance - quietly singing our stupid SIS CP25 jingle. It was just a silly, funny thing at the time which now is so precious.

I don’t have one of those precise anecdotes that can singularly sum up Richard as a man. It’s by all those seemingly mundane, oh so regular moments that I’ll remember him. Remembering how he and @sportsorla gave me the opportunity to join the team and @thecyclingpodcast and thinking it was just the BEST job in the world. And it is! Sitting with your mates, chatting about bike racing.

We started out in Richard’s back garden shed office (where you had to take your shoes off at the door!). Frothy coffees for daytime podcasting, a huge selection of sponsor beers for evening podcasting. Several house moves and a pandemic later and we all moved online. But it was still the same. Richard patiently putting up with plenty of overenthusiastic singing and gentle teasing from me and Orla (although he always gave as good as he got). Leading from the front, but always with warmth and humour and kindness.

I often walk along the road where Richard used to live, on my way to Tooting Common. I always pass by and remember those times in that shed office, remembering how he and Virginie and Maxime aren’t there anymore, but enjoying life in France. To think now that Richard isn’t there either is almost too painful. He brought so much light into this world, and for that I’ll be forever grateful.

Goodbye my friend! And thank you so, so very much. by @roseemanley

Still buzzing after getting to see these two wonders yesterday! 🌟🌟

We’ve been working so hard for months now on getting @thebunnyhop_cc off the ground. We wanted to create a monthly TV show that can offer professional analysis, race highlights and human stories from the women’s peloton. And plenty of fun too of course! Seeing it all come together yesterday was pretty magical.✨

Thanks to the whole team for their hard work and enthusiasm @beccacharlton_insta @mollyweaver94 @myhill @tildsneckdeep @pippo.lp

First show out this week ⏩ @thebunnyhop_cc

Had an absolute blast talking #womeninsport yesterday for the inaugural @atalantasoxford panel.

Wonderful to meet three absolute inspirations in @nikki_emrson, @laramilward and @sarah_winckless.
And it was great to be able to speak out about the challenges facing women’s sport but also to celebrate its progress. 💪🏼 So heartening to be in a room full of people passionate about pushing the agenda forward.

Thanks @atalantasoxford, @rhianeprice, @hanmck91, @rebecca.preece22 and @doctorflorenceamelia for letting me be a part of it. taken in Oxford and Cambridge Club by @roseemanley
