I never posted about this because I am very bad at social media, but last year I had the honor of opening the @splashhouse air museum (thanks @jackhite). One of the coolest nights of my entire life.

And now today I once again get the honor of opening up a @splashhouse stage, this time at the renaissance (thanks @jackhite) and THIS time it’s with my boy @izmenickyg. You can see him front and center for my set last year on slide 5 (along with @casandrajaye), and this year we’re doing it together. Full circle moment from teaching Nick to DJ mid-pandemic to sharing a festival stage together.

Many of you may not know this, but a year ago today, we lost my dad. Words can never explain who he was, how loved he was, what a role model he was, or what he meant to anyone who was lucky enough to have him step into their life for even a brief moment. I look at these pictures and it feels the same as it did a year ago, it doesn’t even seem real. I’m an absolute mess writing this. But I also look at these pictures and laugh and smile all the same, because that’s who my dad was. He brought joy to everyone around him and taught me how to try and do the same, and that that’s the best way to be in this life, and I know he would want THAT to be the memories we cherish the most. The fun times and the silly times and seeing the world together and learning how to be the kind of man who takes care of his family and friends. My dad met my mom and called his parents that night and said I met the woman I’m going to marry - he proposed two weeks later and they were married a year later. Every day of my entire life that story could not have been more apparent, with the sheer amount of love he’d look at my mom and all of us with. I am who I am today, and I’m lucky enough to follow a career I’m passionate about, because of him and his support and everything he gave me and taught me. I love you so much dad, everything I do is for you now. by @roseybaum

Absolutely happiest birthday to Dylan aka @partyfavor aka Big Party aka Mr. Favor. In only a few short years you’ve become an amazing friend, and an even more amazing inspiration and motivation. I couldn’t do what I do day in and day out without your limitless talent and drive, it’s an honor beyond words that you trust me and the team make it all happen for you. House music in the city it all came from @youasidepiece @lollapalooza

Lot of bucket list moments happening/coming this year, but this one is up there. Lolla was the first major festival I ever went to at the tender age of 16 (Lolla 2009), the first music event of any kind I ever attended outside LA, and it’s the event that solidified my love of festivals. Haven’t been to Chicago since Lolla 2011, so what better way to return than with SIDEPIECE playing my favorite festival in the world 💋💋💋
