I’m Rosh. For years I thought I had to shoot like everyone else. Turns out that’s absolutely not true and also a giant waste of time. I’m obsessed with light. I’m obsessed with creativity. I’m obsessed with making the ordinary iconic, not because it’s my brand statement, it’s just how my brain works. I’m driving around and I’m already clocking the crossing, the alley, the window, the 4pm shadow on a Tuesday and going how do I make that something really cool. I don’t do beige. I don’t do vanilla. I don’t do the same creek everyone else has already shot. I get to know my clients kind of inside out so when we shoot, it actually looks like you,not a version of them that performed for a camera. I’m also a mum which yes, is a cliche thing to say, but it’s also just true. I know how often we’re not in the frame sadly .. I know what it costs to never be in the photo and that’s the thing that drives me more than any of it. Not ordinary. Never ordinary. I don't do boring motherhood photography. Never have. You know the vibe I'm talking about. A soft smile, staring wistfully out a window, everything just so pretty and yeah nice enough. But it doesn't actually feel like anything. Motherhood isn't nice and neat right .. It's loud. It's chaos with a heartbeat. It's 5am feeds and inside jokes and your kids mid laugh, screaming in the surf, ice cream melting down there face . It's not curated it's real, and real is way more epic than polished. So I don't pose you into a pretty version of your life. I shoot the actual things, mid motion, mid mess, mid flow state. Ordinary to Iconic, That's my whole philosophy. This is why clients come to me: I don't do stiff. I do story. I don't do "say cheese." I catch the moment right before or right after the real one. I don't shoot from behind a tripod giving instructions. I move with you. I read bodies, I read energy, I catch what's actually happening. I don't hand you 20 identical shots. I hand you the ones that make you cry a little because they're so you. Anyone can take a nice photo of your family standing in a field. I make the photo that stops your scroll in five years and makes you go "that was us. That was exactly us." That's the difference. Every time. #goldcoastphotographer #byronbayphotography #ordinarytoiconic by @roshimccartin
Nobody photographs these parts The in-between days, worlds and deep transitions The quiet Tuesday morning where she’s already holding two lives in one body and somehow still making sure the small human beside her is fed, safe, seen. Nobody sees the shower she finally gets to take with her toddler pressed against the glass and wanting boob while she’s trying to ween .. Getting to document the way she stands there, belly full, body tired, heart fuller than she has words for just existing in the steam and the stillness for thirty seconds before the day begins again. These are the moments nobody thinks to capture and yet these are the moments that will matter … I love documenting like this because I believe the unseen parts of motherhood deserve to be seen. Not the posed parts. Not the performance. The truth of it. The gorgeous, unglamorous, completely sacred truth of what it actually looks like to be a mother right now, in your body, in this season, in this ordinary extraordinary moment. This is what I do. Not just maternity photography. Art. For the moments motherhood doesn’t have a caption for yet …….. DM me “THIS” if you felt something looking at this image. I’ve kept my mouth shut about this for a long time. But honestly? It’s starting to really fucking sadden me.🔥 We’re living in a world where women are terrified to look their age. Actresses in their 50s and 60s barely allowed a line on their face. Women under 30 already injecting, freezing and altering themselves because God forbid they look a little older, a little tired, a little HUMAN. When did ageing naturally become the radical act? As I age my face l is changing, my body is changing and I’m choosing love it, nourish it,and let it . Not because I think I’m better than a woman who chooses Botox, but because I’m questioning the world we’ve created, where women feel the need to fight the very thing that proves they’ve lived. And I can’t stop thinking about our kids. What are our daughters learning when every second woman online is smoothing away the evidence of being human? What are our sons learning about women and what we’re supposed to look like? Are we ever going to feel like we’re enough? Or will there always be another wrinkle to erase, another feature to change, another version of ourselves to become before we finally feel worthy of being seen? I’ve spent years working with women through movement, their bodies and now through my camera. I know how hard so many women already work to feel comfortable in their own skin. We do NOT need another reason to feel like we’re failing at being a woman. I want to see women age. Beautifully. Messily. Powerfully. I want to see lines from laughing, bodies that have carried babies, survived heartbreak, danced all night and lived a thousand different lives. I want our girls to see women getting OLDER without disappearing. Taking up space without apologising. Too busy living to give a fuck about looking 25 forever. Because ageing is not the tragedy. Being made to feel ashamed of it is. Maybe it’s time we stopped asking how we can look younger and started asking why we’re so afraid to look like ourselves. I don’t have it all figured out. But I know this is a conversation worth having. For us. And for the next generations ❤️ What do you think? Are we normalising something we should be questioning? #women by @roshimccartin
Grab a cold beer. Sit back. Watch her absolutely ROCK her pregnant model moment. She’s about to become a mum, and she wants you to see her. 🙌 Guys this thread is for you … Mums share it wide and far … #goldcoastphotographer #goldcoastmaternityphotographer #hertime #hertimetoshine by @roshimccartin
Can we change the fucking conversation for a second? Every photographer is saying the same shit. “Book the shoot. Capture the memories.” You’ll regret not being in the frame .. Yep. We know we know we know and we get it right ? But what about what you ACTUALLY need to hear!!! Like you’re allowed to want to feel HOT. Seen. Powerful. Like THAT kinda woman. Because growing a human, watching your body change, your hormones go rogue, your identity shift while everyone else seems to make it look so fucking easy? GIRL I feel ya .. And maybe deep down you just want to look at yourself and think, holy fuck, THAT’S ME. Not for Instagram. Not just for the memories. But to celebrate the woman you are, the body that’s carried you here, and the season you’re in even if you’re still figuring it all out. You deserve to feel like the main fucking character in your own story. Now THAT’S why we shoot. If you’re ready to see yourself a little differently and make some fucking art. DM me “I’M IN” 🔥 @andreamf_____ #goldcoastphotographer #goldcoastmaternityphotographer by @roshimccartin
