Last week at @creativeartsucl MA Creative Practice - Major Project Exhibition

'Rosie Toas is a makeup artist specialising in prosthetics, props and media makeup.

Her journey started in 2009 when her training began in theatrical and media makeup. Throughout the years, Rosie has worked on varied projects expanding her portfolio and skills as a makeup artist. In the last 5 years, Rosie has gained a BA (hons) in prosthetic makeup effects and is currently studying an MA in creative practice, deepening her knowledge and understanding of concept, design and strong narratives behind the characters which has developed her skills further.

Rosies passion for makeup has lead her to work on films such as 'Electric Love' and 'Me & the Witch' where she has found her love of working collaboratively on set as part of the production team. She hopes to move into more consistent work in the film and television industry in the near future.

This project has been developed whilst working towards a brief set by the University for the major project. Using her knowledge on prosthetics and prop making, rosie has created a series of images that showcase her varied design and application skills.

Inspired by various artists such as Derek Hess and Shawn Coss, and makeup designer Kate Benton, Rosie has developed her ideas throughout this project with the use of AI and character design. Creating the prosthetic injuries and prop heart was achieved through illustrating, sculpting to mould making, from running to painting, along with the styling of costumes, hair and makeup application'
