Spain changed its motorhome parking law on 1 October. The fines up north didn't change. Art. 92.4 of the General Traffic Regulations (RD 518/2026) says how a motorhome must be parked: nothing sticking out past the vehicle's outline, only the tyres on the ground (chocks are allowed), and no dumping fluids. What it doesn't say: anything about sleeping inside. The local council decides what happens overnight. Llanes (Asturias): €500 for overnighting outside the town's 86 designated spaces, €250 if you pay straight away. About 325 fines in the ordinance's first summer (Jun–Aug 2026). Suances (Cantabria): parking for a tourist overnight stay counts as camping. Up to €750. San Vicente de la Barquera: a ban on vehicles with a "vocation of inhabited stay". Up to €750, €1,500 or €3,000 (Oyambre), depending on the zone. Ribadeo (Galicia): its own ordinance, including the Cathedrals Beach. Save this for your next trip north and send it to anyone heading to Llanes. Checked 1 Nov 2026. Rules change and the sign on site wins. Not legal advice. #motorhome #motorhometravel #campervan #spain #northernspain Photos: Einaz80 (CC BY-SA 4.0, Cuevas del Mar, Llanes), Javier Perez Montes (CC BY-SA 4.0, Suances), Luis Fermín Turiel Peredo (CC BY-SA 4.0, San Vicente de la Barquera), via Wikimedia Commons. Before you park in Spain's three white villages, read this. 🚐 Pampaneira, Bubión and Capileira climb one side of the Poqueira ravine in the Alpujarra, Granada. The Junta de Andalucía lists them at 1,058 m, 1,300 m and 1,435 m. All three were declared historic-artistic sites in 1982, and they sit under Mulhacén, the highest peak on the Iberian Peninsula. The way in is the A-4132. It's narrow and has few shoulders through the ravine, according to the Junta's road study. Parking is where I'd slow down. Spain's traffic authority (DGT) says parking a motorhome isn't camping when you park like any vehicle, with nothing put outside. Town councils and the park can still say no, and part of Pampaneira's municipality lies inside Sierra Nevada National Park. Check the signs and ask the town hall before you stay the night. Which of the three would you stop in first? Share this with whoever's driving. Add a dune day to your North Jutland ferry stop. Rubjerg Knude is the lighthouse above the sand — and Tornby Strand Camping is a separate motorhome base near Hirtshals to consider before or after your crossing. THE WALK The Danish Nature Agency lists parking on both sides of Rubjergvej near Fyrvejen. The approach to the lighthouse continues on foot across sand. Check current signs, restrictions and whether the parking suits your vehicle. This is a visit idea, not a verified driving itinerary or an overnight-parking recommendation. THE CAMPER BASE Tornby Strand Camping, Strandvejen 13, Hirtshals, lists year-round motorhome pitches, fresh-water refill, chemical-toilet and waste-water disposal, and pitches with or without electricity. Confirm dates, vehicle size and availability directly. THE FERRY-DAY DETAIL The campsite says its barrier is closed to entry and exit from 23:00 to 06:30. It also offers pitches outside the barrier for late arrivals and early departures. Check the pitch arrangement before booking, and allow for your ferry operator's check-in deadline. Save this for your North Jutland stop. Information checked on 20 September 2026. Sources: naturstyrelsen.dk (Rubjerg Knude practical guide) and tornbystrandcamping.dk (motorhome pitches). Lake Bohinj by campervan: two overnight options, two different kinds of stay. 1. CAMP BOHINJ — UKANC 5 A lakeside campsite. For reservable zones, you book a zone rather than a specific pitch. Check which zone suits your vehicle before booking. 2. BOHINJSKA BISTRICA — RAILWAY STATION A motorhome overnight area in town, not on the lakeshore. Electricity connections are on site. Drinking water and the waste-disposal point are in front of the parking area. Choose the type of stay first, then confirm your dates, vehicle fit, current conditions and availability directly. These are options to investigate, not a promise of a space or facilities included in a price. Save this comparison for your Bohinj planning. Official information checked 18 September 2026: https://www.camp-bohinj.si/camp-facilities/ https://promet.bohinj.si/en/parking/campsite-and-rest-stops-for-caravans/ Archive visuals show different dates and seasons, not current conditions. The summer lake view has no confirmed capture date. The lakeshore photograph was taken on 10 April 2024 and does not show a motorhome pitch. No photo represents the railway overnight area. SENJA: FIVE VISUAL ANCHORS Senja is easy to turn into a checklist. This 32-second edit slows the idea down to five places to research at your own pace: 01 Husøy 02 Mefjordvær 03 Ersfjorden + Okshornan 04 Bergsbotn viewing platform 05 Gryllefjord This is a visual shortlist, not a filmed route, itinerary, access guide or live conditions report. The two moving clips are identified only at Senja-region level; their exact localities are unverified, and the edit does not imply one continuous trip. The stills were made in 2019, 2022 and 2023. Check current official information for your own dates. Save the shortlist. Share it with the person you would plan Senja with. 50 hairpins. 24 north, 26 south. But the useful September question is not only “Can I drive Vršič?” It is “Should I drive it today?” The pass links Kranjska Gora with Log in Trenta. The official destination page describes a narrow road, partly cobbled and somewhat steep on higher sections, with extra care needed around cyclists and hikers. For 2026, a free public bus crosses Vršič between Kranjska Gora and Bovec through 30 September. A Promet.si update dated 1 September says new summit spaces for passenger cars opened, final works continue through September, and transit was planned to remain uninterrupted during those works. Check the live road status and the current timetable just before leaving. This Reel does not assess motorhome suitability; vehicle dimensions, conditions and driver confidence still need an individual decision. Official fact sources: GOV.SI, Promet.si and Kranjska Gora. Denmark moved an entire lighthouse. On 22 October 2019, Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse was moved 70 metres inland to protect it from the eroding coast. That story adds another reason to put this dune landscape on a North Jutland road-trip list. Save Rubjerg Knude for your Denmark trip. The opening film is archive footage from 2014, before the relocation. The photographs were taken in 2024 and 2020. These are not recordings of the 2019 move or a report on current coastal conditions. Check local visitor guidance for your travel dates. Three places to keep on your Lofoten shortlist 🇳🇴 01 / DIGERMULEN A coastal-road detour by the Raftsundet strait. 02 / HENNINGSVÆR Make time for the harbour, small islands and art galleries. The aerial clip shows the surrounding mountain landscape. For the village itself, use permitted parking and explore on foot. 03 / REINE A fishing village between fjord and sea. The film shows the Reine area from above. A useful planning distinction: village parking and overnight stays are separate decisions. Check the local rules, your vehicle requirements and conditions for your travel dates. The map marks approximate town locations. It is a location guide, not navigation or a continuous driving itinerary. Coastal opening and closing scenes show the wider Lofoten region. Save your Lofoten shortlist. Three storybook villages. One compact Alsace drive. 🍇🚐 This approximately 25 km stretch links three stops on the Alsace Wine Route: 01 · Riquewihr — arrive by the motorhome parking at Place Jean Monnet, then walk towards the colourful lanes and the Dolder tower. 02 · Kaysersberg — the official camper area is near the old town. Don’t miss the fortified bridge over the Weiss, documented since 1514. 03 · Eguisheim — park at the town hall motorhome area and explore the old town’s circular streets. The practical arrival points listed for this route currently include 12 campervan pitches in Riquewihr, 70 places in Kaysersberg and capacity for up to 33 motorhomes in Eguisheim. This is a short three-village route, not the complete Alsace Wine Route, which runs for more than 170 km. Parking availability, access, fees and event arrangements can change, so check the official local sources and signs before setting out. Which village would you explore first — 01, 02 or 03? Save this route and follow @roteaiapp for tomorrow’s road. #Alsace #MotorhomeFrance #VanlifeEurope #AlsaceWineRoute #RoteAI by @roteaiapp
Save this five-stop, ~60 km Black Forest High Road route. 01 · Baden-Baden — the northern gateway 02 · Mummelsee — a lake circuit of about 800 m 03 · Ruhestein — the National Park Centre 04 · Kniebis — the Ellbachseeblick viewpoint detour 05 · Freudenstadt — finish at the 216 × 219 m market square Ruhestein parking is paid, and overnight stays are not permitted. Check weather, B500 roadworks, access and parking before departure. Route inspiration only, not a universal motorhome-suitability assessment. Verify your vehicle dimensions and weight, local restrictions and every stop. Austria’s 48 km high-alpine road deserves more than a drive-through. 🇦🇹 Save these five stops, north to south: 01 Piffkar — a 30-minute nature trail. 02 Fuscher Törl — the first Grossglockner view from the Salzburg side. 03 Fuscher Lacke — a 10-minute lake loop and road-history exhibition. 04 Hochtor — the 2,504 m pass between Salzburg and Carinthia. 05 Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe — Grossglockner and Pasterze Glacier views when weather allows. Travelling by motorhome? Skip the narrow Edelweiss-Spitze spur: vehicles over 3.5 t are prohibited, and the operator advises campervans and motorhomes against driving it. Check the official live road status, weather and current vehicle tariff before setting out. In September, last entry is 18:45 and the road closes at 19:30. Overnight camping is not permitted along the road. Save this route for a clear-weather day. Route inspiration only. Conditions and vehicle suitability can change. Photo, map and music credits with source and licence links are in the first comment. #Grossglockner #AustriaRoadTrip #MotorhomeEurope #CampervanEurope #ScenicRoads #RoteAI by @roteaiapp
Five stops for an eastbound Dolomites road trip: 01 Lago di Carezza — protected alpine lake; swimming is not permitted. 02 Seceda — cableway access from Ortisei; parking is limited. 03 Passo Gardena — limited parking; parking along the road is not permitted. 04 Lago di Braies — seasonal traffic controls apply; check the current reservation rules. 05 Tre Cime di Lavaredo — the toll road requires an online reservation and remains weather-dependent. This is route inspiration, not turn-by-turn navigation. Before departure, verify current road access, parking, reservations, weather and suitability for your vehicle. Which stop would you build the trip around: 01, 02, 03, 04 or 05? Visuals: Jari Volpato, Felix Mittermeier, Mauro Morandini, A.S. Kacar and Mattew Gave via Pexels.
