I was so thrilled to attend my THIRD Halloween Horror Nights: This Time There Are Stranger Things Feelings with some of my best buds! As always, there were weird and delicious foods, mountains of scares, piles of laughs, and true art!! All my rankings and thoughts to come soon on @nerdist!!

Thanks to @tamarafuentes_, @discussingfilm, @maggiekingdom, @hopesloop, and @theericgoldman for keeping a gal company in the mist!

And thank you, of course, to the phenomenal folks at @universalorlando and @horrornightsorl for having me for the spooktacular fun! I already can’t wait for 36!! #HHN35 #halloweenhorrornights by @rotem_rusak

Another SDCC is in the books and what a fabulous time it was!!! Only at SDCC can I walk into a party to find Celeborn/Vecna/Jamie Campbell Bower is my DJ and then run into 500 of my closest friends at the bar. Only at SDCC, can I wander the streets and find my favorite characters (and this year, my ship!!) plastered like giants across all of the buildings!! Only at SDCC does my whole inbox transform into real life all around me! Truly, SDCC magic is like no other!

This year, I added panel moderation and participation to the roster and it was so much fun! I was honored to help @webtoonofficial and @darkhorsecomics at the event and to speak on a topic close to my heart, the intersection of fandom and journalism, with @themarysue.

I was also lucky enough to attend panels for some of my favorite series and movies!! Among other things, I put the exclamation point on my @amcsannerice coverage as I opened the door on all the @theringsofpower adventures to come! Thanks to the team @nerdist for their incredible work, on and off the ground: @osteoferocious, @lee_travis_ , @geekboyeric, @heyitsmattcaron, @functional_nerd, @house_walsh, and @writertaigooden!!!

But, of course, as ALWAYS, the most beautiful part was seeing all my incredible friends, from industry, fandom, and beyond! There was a great camaraderie in the air this year, a felt desire to support one another in complicated times, and I couldn’t be more grateful to be a part of all of it with all of you wonderful people (pictured and not pictured)!!!

Can’t wait to do it all again next year!!! 😈🩸🧝‍♂️💍👏 by @rotem_rusak

Beloveds! What a truly incredible journey it has been this season with The Vampire Lestat! For me, it started even before the series released, when, in a bid to make up for the lost time before I discovered the show, I was fortunate to get to speak with the incredible Assad Zaman about one of my favorite characters to ever grace our screens, Armand, and catch up on some of my lurking questions.

From there, it was a whirlwind of incredible moments, everything from being totally transported at the live Lestat concert to manifesting the right amount of mayhem at the pre-season junket, which somehow just gave and gave, to diving into the episodes themselves!

I am so grateful to have spoken to Rolin Jones, Hannah Moscovitch, Mark Johnson, Daniel Hart, Sam Reid, Jacob Anderson, Delainey Hayles, Joseph Potter, Damian Atkins, Jennifer Ehle, Sheila Atim, and, of course, Eric Bogosian and Assad Zaman, and to have been able to share all of their incredible insights with you. A HUGE thank you to AMC and their fabulous PR team for all the opportunities and time.

And brings me to my, finally. Finally, there has been no truer pleasure than being welcomed by this beautiful fandom. It’s no secret I’m a DM gal, but it was my privilege and honor to see my work have impact and mean something to a community that I love. It’s been so much fun to be the Armand Apolo— Understander ✌️— in the room. Thanks to you all for making my pieces so successful and letting me do what I love. I’m so glad my questions and work landed with you. You are truly, my beloveds. 😈

What a fabulous and fascinating four months!

Until next time,
