The Eras Tour (Andrew’s Version) (From The Vault)

I’m perpetually behind on posting to my grid, but like Taylor says, “I come back stronger than a 90s trend,” and two years feels like long enough to gatekeep these photos of Taylor Swift performing during the second night of The Eras Tour in Detroit.

While I had a photo pass on night one, allowing me to use my professional camera gear from the photo pit during the first three songs, these moments were captured from the audience on a point-and-shoot the following night and showcase more of the dozens of costumes, set pieces, props and overall energy that made this show such a spectacle.

Forever grateful that I had the opportunity to experience — and document — this once-in-a-lifetime, record-smashing, career-spanning tour. taken in Ford Field by @roththereporter

"I laid the groundwork, and then just like clockwork, the dominoes cascaded in a line." 🕛

Highlight of my year (life?) was going from not having any tickets for The Eras Tour to covering both nights in Detroit with floor seats, as well as a photo pass to bring my camera into the pit on night one. I still have to periodically pinch myself to make sure it really happened. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the opportunity.

I always bring earplugs when I'm going to be in a photo pit, as the speakers used to fill a stadium are quite loud when you're standing that close to them. But when Taylor Swift first popped out from under the banners her dancers were carrying, you could barely even hear her sing as the stadium erupted into the loudest applause I've ever heard.

Few people could command a stadium so forcefully that 70,000 fans adoringly cheer when they ask for a tissue, but Swift has reached a level of popularity not seen since the likes of The Beatles or Michael Jackson. That energy didn’t let up at any point during Swift’s career-spanning performance, which clocked in at just over three hours – though it sipped away like a bottle of wine and could have gone on for at least another hour without dragging on at all.

Swift is touring in support of four albums that she has not been able to take on tour until now as a result of the pandemic: 2019’s Lover, 2020’s folklore and evermore and 2022’s Midnights. Since her last tour, Swift has also released re-recorded versions of four of her first six albums – Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Red (Taylor’s Version), Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) — as she works to reclaim her masters. For newer fans, The Eras Tour is an opportunity to experience the eras they missed out on, while longtime fans get to relive favorite memories, while both form new memories of the four eras that were added to the mix.

"This is me praying that this was the very first page, not where the storyline ends," so if any editors are looking for coverage of the second North America leg, I'm available for assignment.

If there’s anything that can get me to post for the first time in a full year, it’s the two year anniversary of Taylor Swift performing in Detroit on The Eras Tour. Here’s a little behind the scenes peek at one of the most exciting nights of my career so far. Shortly after we got set up, Taylor’s publicist Tree Paine came to the pit to walk us through what to expect during the portion of the show we were approved to take photos of. More to come tomorrow... 👀 taken in Ford Field by @roththereporter

“It’s been a long time coming.” 🕕

Yesterday marked one year since night one of The Eras Tour in Detroit. Decided to revisit a few photos that didn’t make it into my original post, featuring openers girl in red and Gracie Abrams, signs instructing security to be gentle following an incident at an earlier tour date, and the debut of “King Swiftie” Flavor Flav. taken in Ford Field by @roththereporter

“Thursday, October 31st. The city streets are crowded for the holiday. Even with the rain.

Hidden in the chaos is the element, waiting to strike like snakes. But I’m there too, watching.

Two years of nights have turned me into a nocturnal animal. I must choose my targets carefully. It’s a big city. I can’t be everywhere. But they don’t know where I am.

We have a signal now, for when I’m needed. When that light hits the sky, it’s not just a call — it’s a warning. To them.

Fear is a tool. They think I’m hiding in the shadows. But I AM the shadows.”

Michigan State Madness returns to the Breslin Center tomorrow night, Friday, Oct. 13. The annual event offers autograph opportunities, introduces the women's and men's basketball teams, and features performances by the Spartan Marching Band and drumline, Michigan State cheerleaders, MSU dance team and Sparty.

One of the main focuses of the event has always been on the elaborate costumes head coach Tom Izzo and now former head coach Suzy Merchant would wear. Last year's theme was "Spartan Things," and Merchant was hoisted into the air while Running Up That Hill filled the arena. Izzo took a more toned down approach to the event than in year's past, wearing a relatively normal outfit while lighting turned the arena into the Upside Down for his speech.

While no theme has been officially announced for this year's event, the logo appears to lean into the fact that it is taking place on Friday the 13th. How will new head coach Robyn Fralick make her debut at the event? Will Izzo opt for a more elaborate costume this year, as in years past? These questions and more will be answered tomorrow. Doors open at 8 pm and the event is free and open to the public. taken in Michigan State University by @roththereporter
