out now on my youtube channel, ALvantGarde, i invite you to watch "WAITING ROOM", a short i did for @superwondergallery's heaven and/or hell super five i did this past july.

set in purgatory (or some other place between heaven, hell, and our mortal realm), a man faces judgement between his own divided actions. he claims to be a man of god, goes to church each sunday, and is an upstanding model citizen for the capitalist system, yet he denies his wrongdoings for the sake of the lord, he's right and everyone's wrong. does he get a chance to go to heaven or hell? will he ever see any kind of afterlife? or is he doomed to wait for eternity as they can't seem to make up their minds?

starring neal armstrong (@martian_crisis) and paul bellini, along with a short spoken appearance from my friend mark (@undocumented_faith_healer) at the start of the film. i wrote, shot, and directed the whole thing, along with making a very simple thumbnail from a painting that was in the office that we rented out for the day.

a few fun facts about this film:
i met neal (and a few other fun characters) at paradise theatre during the canadian premiere of tristian wheeler's toronto apartment a week or two prior to filming, he also brought along his industry friend paul bellini who you might recognize as one of the writers behind "the kids in the hall" and "this hour has 22 minutes"! both of them have been a joy to work with, and possibly some of my favourite people i've worked with so far, they're both wonderful.

this film was shot in less than two hours, it was a very simple setup, though the dialogue audio department is lacking big time in two areas. during editing, the film totalled to nearly 10-minutes in length due to some of the lines i've written being repetitive, but i managed to shortened it down to a near 6-minutes in legnth

the "YOU'RE DEAD! NOW WHAT?" brochure was made with materials that were found in that office and was improvised by me, and was quite hard to see on camera at first before being improved with some black marker just a bit later.

my spoon is too big

thank you @don_hertzfeldt @donhertzfeldtfilms for being an inspiration during my childhood. getting recommended your short film on youtube when i was a kid really formed the weird surrealist humour i would develop throughout my life. my dream of holding a comically large spoon has finally become reality, and it's all because of you, don. you're fucking awesome, love your work <3

last month, me and @jimmer98 worked on a short experimental film using pixillation, a stop-motion technique which uses live actors as puppets in animation. i totally forgot to post this too, so sorry for being extremelly late in telling you guys this now!

the thumbnail art i made was inspired by old-school atari 2600 box art as i grew up being fascinated by older video games, owning retro arcade compilations and even owning an atari 7800 at one point! since atari directly aligns with my weird 60's/70's aesthetic, i thought it would be fitting to have that as my thumbnail for the short film.

it's on youtube (link in bio) right now if you guys want to see the full thing. i may post this video plus another short i made with someone else in the future and see if y'all will enjoy it here on IG, though i'd recommend you watch the video in its full quality over on youtube rather than here.

WIGGERMANIA WORLD PREMIERE @superwondergallery SATURDAY JULY 25TH | TIX IN BIO

Finally! It's here! A screening for the edgiest indie film you'll ever see this summer! Wiggermania is coming to the Super Wonder Gallery!

First initialized in 2025 as a short five-minute film, directors Alberto Cuesta and Mark Shustov shot far too much footage (and missing so much context in the original cut) for it to remain in the Super Five Film Festival. Now, after over six consecutive months of editing, Shustov-Cuesta Productions are proud to present the full uncensored 40-minute cut of Wiggermania at the Super Wonder Gallery on Saturday, July 25th!

PLOT SYNOPSIS:
In the United States, the C.I.A. has been secretly creating its own virus that turns regular people into infected "wiggers", thus unleashing the hellspawn known as "Wiggermania" on the world. Two agents are on the case as to who leaked the virus from the program, yet they had no idea what was in store for them.
