I’ll never win the race but I’m passionate about being on the start line! A runner who loves to support and encourage others on their running journey!

The Sept RoundUp: Sept looks like it had more solo runs than usual but it started fantastically with a #URC EPIC 30km hike around the Edale skyline. The month highlight was @newark_parkrun with my boy (8 years old and 32 min 5km he is very nearly faster than me!). The month I turned 47 and laced my new trainers up ready for Octobers trail half marathon. The mental blocker of building up the distance again following Mays 50km ultra was real. It’s been a relief to run in cooler temperatures, feeling the sun on my skin and the freedom in my feet! #trail #trailrunning #socialrun #youcanruntoo @teamvaga all the way! @ukgoodr for the win! @shiv_field @joanne_linton @mearslisa @eleanormason1985 @sarahbartlett1977 @charlbrooks_22 KM year to date 1,196KM. by @roundruns

What a beautiful run! Thank you so much @jimsgym_official we know the effort that goes into organising these runs is huge and massive hats off to those doing the marathon distance @dan_watford and the ultra! (80km) despite a cold (getting excuses in early) and a red zone heart rate the whole way, I absolutely loved this! Accompanied by the amazing powerhouse that is Polly and supported by my boys @topangarider - it was such a joy to start in my home town and cross over the country side to eventually arrive, 13 miles later, in Metheringham! Perhaps the smallest event I’ve run but small by nature and mighty in impact! And finally this year .. a medal!! #trailrunning #trailhalf #runningfriends #spiresandsteeples by @roundruns

August RoundUp: A bit late this month! No races in August and to be honest, with the school holidays and heat wave it was a case of get out and do what you can, when you can! Summer evening bike rides, strolls around the nature reserves and a trip to both the Peak District and the Lake District with my boys were memorable highlights! Greeting @mearslisa at the end of her epic Cumbrian way solo walk was just the best!! Getting those social runs in with #urc ladies is always a pleasure .. running in Suffolk with its badly maintained field paths and bulls in field was not a highlight! Annual KMs to date 1,098 .. a bit behind schedule but life be lifing!! @topangarider @sarahbartlett1977 @joanne_linton @lucymcsmith by @roundruns

@newark_parkrun number 4 for little legs 🦵 a game of too halves, a bit daunted at first, second lap saw a little fall and a stitch but by the third lap he had found his legs and his speed and left me for dust! A#trailrunner in the making for sure! Thanks to all the marshals and all the speedy runners who gave Rocky a “well done lad” .. he couldn’t always hear you as he has his own playlist on 😂 bonus to see uncle @james_daykin by @roundruns

A little Saturday pootle #edaleskyline by @roundruns

#edaleskyline #edaleskylinechallenge with #URC DONE! 30+Kms - 4400m ascent - 9 hours (8 moving!) Giggles, belly laughs, big climbs, big steps, awesome time .. massive burgers and bigger bunk beds! Where to next?? @joanne_linton @mearslisa @shiv_field @eleanormason1985 @sarahbartlett1977 @charlbrooks_22 by @roundruns

Our one day adventure to the Lake District. We packed for rain but experienced heat and humidity so the climb was pretty intense but amazingly beautiful with the low cloud and “cloud invasion” was stunning! When your friend decides to solo work the Cumbria Way and finishes like a bad ass in 5 days, it was a pleasure for us to nip up to the lakes and transport her back to her car at the start line! Feed her up and make sure she was warm and safe that night. @mearslisa you are a hero and a role model 🥰⛺️👏 #sail #causypike #lakedistrict by @roundruns

I wanted woodland (for my soul) and Ellis Rocky wanted rocks (for his) and @topangarider found us a new route that covered both! Fuelled by sausage rolls and scotch eggs thanks to @colemans.deli and soundtracked by Ellis’ constant singing and questioning, we had the the best “time out” day! #peakdistrictnationalpark #10kmtrek #woodlandadventures #perfectday by @roundruns

The July RoundUp: The month I started to get my mojo back. Heatwave aside I’m going to miss the evening sun runs, the sparkle of the water and the rays through the trees! July year to date total 1000km baby (great to share the moment with @mearslisa at Stapleford Woods). Thanks to @sarahbartlett1977 and @joanne_linton for pacing me to my trail 10km PB (almost a road PB!).. I always hate a 10km, too long to be fast, too short to be slow but I’m slowly warming to the distance! Still no medal but an icecream as a prize for the Caister 10km (with its sting in the tail!) all the sweeter for sharing the course with @topangarider, @james_daykin and Simon ❤️ and of course my favourite moments sharing runs and rides with my boy ❤️ oh and the zebra .. that was pretty cool! #trailrunning #roadrunning #exploring #whoneedsamedal #URC by @roundruns

#londoncalling When faced with a solo night in London Town I quite fancied a run down by the river like the old days but last minute I decided to be brave and try a new route down by the canal towpath. It wasn’t always pretty, there were heavy sections of weed and wee but the zebras and the quirky buildings more than made up for it! The best bit ..catching up with my boys when I got back! Just nobody mention the bowling! @topangarider #cityrun #londonzoo #richmondpark #camdentown by @roundruns

There were several #stinginthetail with this #caistor10km and I make no secret of the fact that I hate a #10km but maybe this one has changed my mind? A hot day would have been hard enough but the sting in this tail is the last 3kms are repeat hill loops but I fell back to my counting technique and ticked the hills off and even managed to overtake a few lads on the final climb (sorry boys!) .. a no medal event but a fantastically organised and attended event with fairground activities and stalls a plenty! Plus a freebie vest (in my size!) .. well done to #caistorrunningclub pleasure to share the course with my boys @topangarider @james_daykin and Simon ❤️ #trailandroad by @roundruns

The Jun26 RoundUp: I thought June would be a washout as I had a week out due to posterior chain injury and a heatwave but .. year to date KMs 900km, KMs for June 100km and friends run with a plenty ❤️ i didn’t make the Summer Solstice 10km due to injury but loved supporting. A privilege to join @danwatfordcopywriter for a couple of laps of his epic village run. I’m feeling grateful to live in such a beautiful village with woodland and nature reserves a plenty! Not such a fan on the bramble scratches and bites but the gorgeous sunsets and beautiful friends more than make up for that. New Races signed up for this month .. 2! Benidorm half in November #roadrunning and #spiresandsteepleshalf in October! #trailrunning @topangarider @joanne_linton @sarahbartlett1977 @eleanormason1985 @mearslisa @lucymcsmith @emmajanedixon #URC #unofficialrunclub with thanks as always to @newark_parkrun @newarkjuniorparkrun @groundedyogacollingham by @roundruns
