“Why don’t they just leave?” is what we still ask when we hear about domestic violence.

Perhaps we should be asking, “Why does the responsibility fall on the person being harmed rather than the person causing the harm?”

This poem explores one of the many ways abuse can affect someone psychologically.

The struggle to regain control in a situation where you have so little of it.

Silence is often times how you get through, just to make it one more day because, “just leaving” is not the safest option.

For those who have survived by going numb, you’re not alone ❤️‍🩹
