A few of the deities are shown here but please check out the link (in bio) for additional images and a map showing where each of them may be found.

Life [sacrificed to Odin] is good! And also the height of wise fashion.

Check out scandinavianaggression.com’s ”shop” page for this design and more (Straight Outta Östergötland, Leif Eriksson Was Here, etc.)

To Holmgård…and beyond!

Every book by Mats G. Larsson is a treat. Den här gången reser vi genom Gårdarike till Miklagård med en jättebra Jever pils till hands. Skål till väringarnas ära!

Gudrid Thorbjarnardóttir dyes it black.

But beyond the original Icelandic goth girl’s trick-or-treating tendencies or her date at midnight with Nosferatu, Children of Tax and Tea has received some kind words from knowledgeable folks, including the delightful Carolyne Larrington.

The book is available to order everywhere, and signed copies can be found at @harvardbookstore but, alas, you can’t get it at @newburycomics

”De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da” is all this runestone wants to say to you. That’s because its inscription is gibberish; the rune carver didn’t know what he was doing.

The Neo-Northmen are coming

Paperback and Ebook available wherever books are sold (and some signed copies on Etsy). See what some folks had to say about it below:

“Funny as hell! Kind of like Rolling Stone for the Álfablót crowd.” —Scott Oden, author of A Gathering of Ravens and Twilight of the Gods

“This is one of the most entertaining books I’ve read in a long time.” —Tim Hodkinson, author of Odin’s Game and Sword of the War God

“A hilarious read…fans of the Icelandic sagas will be pleased by the modern spin on their favorite scenes and stories.” —Andy Pfrenger, professor of medieval studies and co-host of the Saga Thing podcast

Plus, the book was seen being waved around by Johan Hegg (Amon Amarth) on the Grimfrost podcast, so there’s also that.

Thökk sits in her dark cave, being angry and evil and content to bring about the end of the world after Balder’s death. Illustration created by Ib Spang Olsen in the ancient days (1950s).

Here’s Wayland the Smith learning to fly, courtesy of Alan Howard in Kevin Crossley-Holland’s Faber Book of Northern Legends.

Flying aside, Wayland did some serious vengeance. In addition to making badass things out of metal, vengeance was something he truly excelled at.

Östergötlandic Finds. This is a very nice book highlighting an interesting assortment of historic artifacts from the Kingdom of Sweden’s best county.

Och boken var dessutom wicked cheap i @butiken_norrkopingsstadsmuseum vilket alltid är en bra sak!
