Over the past year, our program has continued to grow in clinical care, research, and education. We now have two physicians and two nurse practitioners caring for several hundred patients with ME/CFS, Long COVID, dysautonomia, and related post-infectious conditions. We are also working to recruit an additional pediatrician to help expand access to specialized care. This year marked an important leadership transition as Dr. Peter Rowe passed the role of program director to Dr. Alba Azola. Dr. Rowe remains deeply involved in the program’s clinical care, research, and education, while Dr. Azola builds upon the foundation he established through expanded collaborations across Johns Hopkins. Our research continues to focus on the biological and treatable contributors to ME/CFS and related illnesses. Current projects include: Investigating immune dysfunction, blood-brain barrier disruption, and cognitive symptoms through a new five-year NIH-funded study Completing our second cohort study of neural tension, movement restrictions, and neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome Studying changes in neurological, autonomic, and systemic symptoms following thoracic outlet surgery Examining vascular compression syndromes that may contribute to abdominal pain, headaches, brain fog, orthostatic symptoms, and other disabling manifestations" At the bottom middle is the RRR logo in white.
