Spray paint update
My mid nineties van had seen a few too many winters of salt and ice. She had some rust holes eating away at her.
So I did some cutting, sanding, prepping and painting, a friend did some welding and gave this ol girl a makeover. She's been looking beautiful for 2.5 years on a $1000 diy fix. Not bad for a van gal on a tight budget with limited tools

I cannot control your perception of me
But I don't have to let it affect me
As an abuse survivor. I used to be programmed to believe that the only control I had was over how people perceived me, how they reacted to me.
If they didnt perceive me as a threat, they wouldn't attack.
If they didnt see me as a victim, they wouldn't put me down.
If they saw me as strong, they'd respect me.
If they found me pleasing, they'd accept me.
I'm working on carrying my self-perception close. Aware of my own integrity. Tuned in to my own moral compass and listening to my intuition. I'm weeding out the opinions of others and cultivating a meadow of self worth blooming with wildflowers and drenched in sunshine

This August, I caught a plane down to California and did a beach tour down the coast.
I worked on the book, I frolicked in the waves, I swooned over sunsets and camped in parking lots, beaches and redwood forests, on hilltop lookouts, roadside pullouts and not so quiet side streets.
I have never felt more relaxed in all my life
