"I am trapped in a cage. The frustrating thing about cages is that you're trapped but you can see exactly what you want. You can reach out from the cage, but only so far."
♥️
Found this gem in a local street library. Powerful writing, raw, dark, emotional . Finishing the last few pages with a big salad dinner. I have the annoying combo lately of being constantly nauseated but also constantly a little bit hungry.

Flipping through beautiful cookbooks from the library trying to find that little spark to get me interested in food again. After a few years with chronic nausea and over 25+years being responsible for ALL the meals I have zero motivation. I miss someone making me a home cooked allergy friendly meal, I miss when cooking was a chance to be creative and not just a daily job/chore. I love the ingredients and flavours from this region.

"I thought I had to go on an epic quest, in order to find myself. I thought I was a woman of immense and bold destiny. But really, I was just a menopausal woman who needed to get a bit of fresh air. I basically just need to find a way to cope with the average Tuesday. Yes, I do need to go on a quest - but a small quest. A domestic quest. An affordable quest. A quest -and here I suggest the inevitability of it all - a quest, oh God, that's inside me."

"One of the best things about being a journalist is that, if you get really excited about something, or someone, often you can arrange to meet them - under the guise of 'journalistic endeavour'. It's kind of like licensed stalking. Being a bit creepy - but professionally."

Loving this new book from #cailtinmoran

(Side note: I'm also kind of happy to discover I'm not the only one losing friends to the cultish conspiracy web manosphere qanon weirdness out there). by @roxyisreading

"The thing about loving someone is you don't get to do it with conditions attached. I don't love him, expecting him to return it. I don't love him, hoping I'll get over it, or that I can transfer that love to someone else. I just love him. I'm starting to realise that maybe that's enough. It's not the easiest option, but it's the one that makes me happy."
♥️
"When did sharing what we have with people become this huge deal? Pooling resources used to be necessary for survival, and now all people do is hoard what others need."

A little romance reset before I start my next library book.

"Good people wore out faster than bastards , the universe using them up like it held a grudge against kindness."

"Nothing is normal in war, Vaudai said. It is always an experiment to discover what will undo the last encounters defenses and what will defend against the newest angle of attack. One creates the form of the other, and echoes back again in an endless spiral of sophistication and elegance. Conflict is the engine of excellence, and war is the distillation of conflict. It is the grand unfolding that ends in the embrace of eternity. Also it is like painful defecation and leaves me with an ache."

"The elite exist on the shoulders of the unremarkable"

"Because we can't hold on to things. Because there is so much happening now that we don't influence, much less control. I just think it would be better if we were more like water. Let the universe tell us what shape it needs us to be, and be that. Change when the universe changes."
🚀
All set for the Drs appointments and hopefully a few minutes of park time later. I love everything #jamessacorey This one has a lot happening. I would love a little illustrated section to show us a depiction of the different alien species. There is great descriptive text, but I get them a bit jumbled up and I always find it easier with a visual. There are a lot of strange beings with very unique features, but having aphantastia means I don't get an image in my minds eye. An illustrated guide at the beginning would be fantastic. It's very different to the Expanse series but equally adventurous, action packed, and interesting.

The new library stack has arrived. I've already started one. See any you've read? Which should I read next?

A bit more nonfiction this week. A few more days until I get the new library stack. Always trying to learn more and make small improvements. ♥️

"Every week she paid her a quarter and Ophelia would tuck it in her big bosoms. I never saw her take it out so I cannot account for how much she had down in there. It was like a bank."

"My entire life's assignment is to ask questions. Why else are we even here?"

I finally made it to the front of the library queue for this one. I was 47th! Finishing up this weekend and then it can go back for the next in the reserve line. I loved most of it but not so much the club parts. Meg was my favourite character.

Street libraries of Randwick.
📍 St Marks Road
📍 Cnr Cook & Frances Street
📍 Chatham Street
📍 Queen Street
📍 Market Street
I didn't include the one on Alison Road because it is a bit of a Huntsman Hotel and last time I went there was a hand sized Huntsman guarding the books. He can keep them. There are a few more I know of and will try to visit next week. Got any additions I should put on the list for some book donations?
