POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
This October, we welcome partners and guests from all corners of the arts. Classical concerts to literary discussion, find it all at the RCM!

Two of Mozart’s most monumental sacred works — the Great Mass in C Minor and the Requiem — stand among the most powerful and mysterious masterpieces in Western music. Both, however, were left unfinished.
This concert reimagines these iconic works through a new artistic lens.

Steve Reich has been described as “our greatest living composer” (NY Times). We celebrate his 90th birthday with the North American premiere of In All Your Ways for 14 instruments, co-commissioned by Soundstreams, Carnegie Hall, Edinburgh Festival, Philharmonie de Paris, and others.

Join us for an evening on creativity and innovation with award-winning musician, performer, writer, and artist, David Byrne, as he gives a presentation on his latest book Sleeping Beauties: Why Good Ideas Go Dormant and How They Wake Up.
This event is in partnership with Penguin Random House Canada.

Opera Atelier invites you on a journey of the heart.
Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s extraordinary masterpiece recounts the timeless story of the poet Orpheus and his journey to hell and back to rescue his lover from death.
Join us for this fully staged Canadian premiere in the glorious acoustic of Toronto’s Koerner Hall. by @royalconservatoryevents

Hosted by the RCM, this groundbreaking fesitval was created to spotlight pivotal classical and instrumental music of the 21st century. On May 24rd, a lineup of incredible performers including the Afiara String Quartet with Uri Caine, Javier Limón, Eve Egoyan & David Rokeby, and Chilly Gonzales lit up our stage with a masterclass of a night in modern music 🎵

We have so many fond memories of this and other nights of the 21C Music Festival. Were you in the crowd on this historic Toronto night? by @royalconservatoryevents

We thank the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir for bringing us along for a journey to fill in the gaps of what was left unsaid in the work created by one of our greatest classical composers, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Specifically focusing on two of his most monumental, unfinished masterpieces, the Great Mass in C Minor and the Requiem, Maestro Jean-Sébastien Vallée led the choir as they breathed new life into these pieces that so many of us know and love 🎵

Join us for an evening on creativity and innovation with award-winning musician, performer, writer, and artist, David Byrne, as he gives a presentation on his latest book Sleeping Beauties: Why Good Ideas Go Dormant and How They Wake Up.

Some of the most important discoveries and works of art didn’t gain traction for decades, falling asleep only to wake up and flourish. Sleeping Beauties offers hope, to try new things, take risks, and embrace uncertainty. Drawing on examples from history, science, culture and everyday life, Byrne examines why promising ideas can be overlooked, forgotten, or dismissed, and to consider which seemingly forgotten possibilities might still have the power to shape the future. by @royalconservatoryevents

Congratulations to Tafelmusik on a striking set of performances as September transformed into October. As the leaves changed on the ground outside, Koerner Hall was also converted into a space for exploring groundbreaking musical endeavours.

The RCM welcomed two season-opening performances of Beethoven & Farrenc, pairing Ludwig van Beethoven's iconic Symphony no. 7 with the groundbreaking Symphony no. 3 by Louise Farrenc. The concerts were conducted by the renowned Jakob Lehmann for his debut performance with Tafelmusik, bringing together multiple masterpieces under one roof 🎵
