Lawrence “Boo” Mitchell is a multi-GRAMMY Award-winning producer, engineer, musician, and owner of Memphis’ legendary Royal Studios. The son of renowned producer Willie Mitchell, Boo grew up inside one of American music’s most important recording environments and has continued that legacy while working across blues, soul, hip-hop, rock, and contemporary pop. His credits include work with artists such as Bruno Mars, John Mayer, Snoop Dogg, Melissa Etheridge, and Keb’ Mo’, along with his acclaimed work on the #SinnersMovie soundtrack. For Morgan Freeman’s Symphonic Blues Experience, Boo helped ensure that the authenticity of the Delta remained at the heart of the recording. He produced and engineered the sessions at Royal Studios, while also contributing to the editing and mixing of the album. From the sounds of Memphis’ past to the music being made today, Boo Mitchell continues to help carry the city’s musical legacy forward. #bluesmusic #memphis #deltablues by @royalstudiosmemphis

Another unforgettable conversation for our film Solid Soul. We recently spent time with the incredible @judithgloryhill at Royal Studios in Memphis. An extraordinary singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Judith has performed with legends like Michael Jackson and Prince while carving out an inspiring career of her own. Judith has also collaborated with Boo Mitchell, recording at the legendary Royal Studios and helping carry forward the unmistakable sound and spirit that Willie Mitchell built. Her perspective on creativity, collaboration, and the enduring legacy of soul music added another beautiful layer to this documentary. Every interview reminds us that Solid Soul is about so much more than music. It’s about the people, the relationships, and the legacy that continues to inspire new generations. Thank you, Judith, for sharing your time and your story. We can’t wait to bring this film to audiences. #SolidSoulFilm #Documentary #SoulMusic #Memphis #music by @royalstudiosmemphis

Before Missy Elliott turned it into a futuristic anthem… Memphis made it timeless. Inside Royal Studios in South Memphis, Ann Peebles recorded “I Can’t Stand the Rain” with Willie Mitchell and the legendary Hi Rhythm Section in 1973. The song became one of the most sampled soul records in music history and helped carry the sound of Memphis across generations. From the soul of Memphis… to the sound of the world. 💿 🌊🌊 @memphyswater #Memphis #AnnPeebles #RoyalStudios by @royalstudiosmemphis
Spent part of the weekend filming and interviewing Grammy Award-winning artist John Mayer for Solid Soul. We sat down inside his new Hollywood studio, the former Charlie Chaplin Studios, and talked about recording “I’m Gonna Find Another You” with Willie Mitchell at Royal Studios during the making of Continuum. Hearing John talk about Willie, Memphis soul music, and the magic of Royal was pretty special. Another reminder of how far Willie Mitchell’s influence still reaches today. Grateful to John for being part of the film and partnering with the great Steve Jordan and @jayveerecords on this important story. #music #JohnMayer #Documentary by @royalstudiosmemphis
