@walkonmarsband released another epic tune: “Castle in Tennessee.”

I was fortunate enough to track drums and bass, produce, mix, and master this one—and even had a hand in writing it with the band and @jackwenstrup.

This is such a beautiful, dynamic song, anchored by an incredibly powerful and heartfelt vocal performance.

Blessed to have produced, mixed, and mastered another track for the @fourstarsil boys.

This was one of those tunes where the message was clear from the start, but the production and arrangement had a lot of open space to explore. It went through a few different evolutions before we finally landed on the finished product.

Always stoked on Four Stars for their artistic fearlessness, for giving me grace as a creative to try new ideas, and for continuing to trust me with their art.

There have been many times in my life when I have sat down and actively tried to write a good sappy love song. But every time I tried to think or make up words for one on the spot, it came out cheesy or forced. Though what I am about to say is also… extremely 🧀. I was simply moving into a townhome with my best friend/manager in TN living with my twin sized bed and Frank (my stuffed monkey stfu about it) with no job, no car, no money, student debt, and the guy I fell in love with right at the end of college was living in another state. Long distance SUCKS and I’ve already been through the heartbreak of one ending, but this for some reason felt different. One night, I told my mom how obsessed I was with this man right before taking a shower… and in that shower I finally wrote a damn love song. Let’s take a short trip down memory lane to 2022!

I listened to @deaddogband Show Me Another Way EP yesterday for the first time in years, and it reminded me of two things: how fulfilling it was to make, and how proud I still am of the choices we made.

The vocal performances and arrangements are so satisfying, and the guitars sound huge and analog—mostly real amps and cabs through a 1073 clone 😮. Drums are articulate and huge when they need to be.

If I had a personal Production Hall of Fame, this would absolutely be in the top 10.
